[SUCCESS] Gigabyte Designare Z390 (Thunderbolt 3) + i7-9700K + AMD RX 580

Hi guys,

For some weeks, I, too, am struggling with Antelope Audio Thunderbolt 3 incompatibility on a hackintosh.
I’m here enclosing an IOregistryExplorer report from a MacBook Pro regularly working with the device together with the hackintosh’s one. Hope that some good hearted among you can really help me to get out from this nightmare.
Any help is appreciated, thanks!
Hello,
as I know Antelope Thunderbolt 3 devices on Hackintosh are compatible only with High Sierra.
Have you tried it?

TB3 with Antelope won't work: USB should work. Antelope is one of the very few TB3 that won't work with Hackintosh even with flashed firmware.

We know that so far is not solved, nevertheless unfortunately USB band can't handle any professional music project! The only thing we can do in order to try to solve the issue, is sharing our info in the community. In our particular case the problem seems to be apparently so "banal": the OS see the device, but just doesn't recognize it as a soundcard. Guess somebody who got a very deep hardware skills might make it. However thank you all for whatever contribution or advice you can share!

Hello guys,
HackinDROM needs some volunteers to test an .app
This is a simple EFI Mount/Unmount tool.
I know you already own EFI mounter tool but here the aim is to test the code with different storage drives, SSD HDD USB etc.
This is for the development of a "new cool tool" :silent:

Let me know if it works for you or not, with detail please, like screenshots, storage internal/external etc.
Available only on Big Sur
Thank you

Download it just below

Some questions and suggestions:
  • Are you using the Gigabyte Designare Z390?
  • The System Information --> Thunderboltscreenshot is not correct. There should be a lot more information displayed on that page.
    • Please perform a CMOS Reset (using a flathead screwdriver, short the two designated pins on motherboard according to instructions in motherboard user manual).
    • Then configure BIOS parameters again, starting with F7 (Load Optimized Defaults).
  • After booting back into macOS, please post screenshot again of System Information --> Thunderbolt.
CMOS Reset fixed it. Thanks so much!

@CaseySJ I have a Vega Frontier, running 2x 4k monitors and TV (usually off); followed your guide both with Mojave (ran for over 1.5 years) and recently did a fresh install for Catalina 10.15.7, with WEG 1.3.9

I do full time work on this machine, have it running for 1.5 months before a restart, intense workload. I always put to sleep and wake. Sometimes all 64 GB of RAM will be used (then I restart).

On both OS's, **once in a while** both screens go grey and fans start. I can never see the KP in the logs :(. This will happen say once per 1.5 months, sometimes a bit sooner.

Is this worth it to try and debug? Should I try the latest WEG? Again, it's almost perfect except for this.

Some quick feedback:
  • When we enter our password, it should be good for about 15 minutes without needing to be reentered. Headkaze's "EFI Agent" does this.
  • It would be good to have this utility accessible from an icon in the right side of the menu bar.
  • It would also be good to have an option for running at login.
    • This only makes sense if the "new cool tool" should be similarly accessible from menu bar.

That's a tough call...
  • It is safe to experiment with latest WEG and other kexts by using a USB Flash Disk. All changes should be made to the EFI partition of the USB flash disk.
  • The workflow you described might even be a challenge for a real Mac so if latest WEG and other drivers don't help, it might be best to leave well-enough alone.
Hopefully you're using OpenCore instead of Clover because latest EFI (w/OC 0.6.5) is available for download from one of the mini-guides in this thread.

Kind of at my wits end here, Just trying to get a usable Big Sur with TB (Hotplug would be nice, but not imperative).
I hope I'm not breaking any rules for asking here! Kindly redirect me if I'm in the wrong spot. I have spent weeks on this.

Z390 Designare with BIOS F9G. All BIOS settings as per this thread, config files taken from this thread.
9900K
Sapphire RX 5700 XT
OpenCore 6.5
Internal M.2 2T and 1T SSDs
Everything works but Thunderbolt devices. I have not flashed the controller (ordered the unit to do so) The TB devices will not connect to the mb. Further, I have a powered dock that will not power up if connected to the machine via TB.
I was running Mojave prior with these same TB devices working (including hotplug), but now nothing.
