[Guide] Lenovo Legion y530-y540 Laptop on Catalina 10.15

One last thing before I am done with my Legion Y7000P.
Try to replace the boot image to something like this

r/hackintosh - Could not change OS icons in Open Core boot GUI
Currently I have something like this:

r/hackintosh - Could not change OS icons in Open Core boot GUI
I copied a BigSur icon file (128x128) to Mac OS preboot volume, name as .VolumeIcon.icns.

Also a windows 10 icon to Windows C:\

When it reboots, I still see the same old disk icons.

I did follow https://dortania.github.io/OpenCore-Post-Install/cosmetic/gui.html#setting-up-opencore-s-gui

set config.plist

  • Misc -> Boot -> PickerMode
    : External
  • Misc -> Boot -> PickerAttributes
    :1
    • This enables .VolumeIcon.icns reading off the drive, this is how macOS installer icons work

Please let me know how to change the boot icon.

Thanks.
update:
Issue resolved. The icon file is incorrect although it has .icns extension

---------------------------
Still try to solve the OS icon issue at boot.
Found issue in log file:
OC read the .icns file ok.
164:825 00:177 OCUI: Failed to convert icon - Security Violation
What may cause this? Thanks.

@chilledHamza Any thing special I need to do to enable the number pad on top left of keyboard?
0,1-9 keys there are not working on my Legion Y7000 (2018) . Thanks.

BCM94360NG same as above but with NG
it's natively support, custom version by Fenvi (some users report that antenna connector are loose). but it's natively supported just like BCM9460CS2 (with M2 Adapter)
Good news. Touchpad is working after I use OC-Tool to update @chilledHamza's EFI to OC 0.6.5. It also updated all Kexts.
Cool

I don't know about this, never tried myself. default UI is fine for me (for now), will switch to modern UI soon.
This script is mainly used for y540/y545/y730/y740/legion 5i/legion. 7. Because these versions cannot unlock the advanced BIOS mode.
ok, great. thanks for the script, so it's more useful for the later model as they can't access BIOS advanced menu.
Bro is it possible to get the 1050ti working on hackintosh?
Nope.
Which chip supports both wifi and bluetooth? Is Broadcom chip better than Intel wireless N 7260? I have 7260 in an old laptop I can use. Thanks.
Broadcom chip will have better speed, Intel driver is still in development (open-source) and currently speed is around 100Mbps, if you need more than consider Broadcom instead.
Wi-Fi and BT both will work (for both intel and Broadcom), but there are reports that Intel ones have some issue with BT if Wi-Fi network is 2.4Ghz (BT works better with Wi-Fi in 5GHz mode)

Try the custom VoodooPS2Controller from Post #271, I haven't got the patch merged yet (I'll try it when I have some spare time)

Try this modified VoodooPS2Controller, instead of setleds. This should fix the Num Lock key, and Numeric Keypad. Working fine on Legion Y7000 (2018).

PS. Expect a Big Sur Installation Guide for Legion Y530/Y7000 (2018) some time soon.
@chilledHamza, you are the man.

I tried the modified kext file from post 271. The number pad works well on Y7000 (2018).
What is the difference? Will it be updated for future OC releases?

thank you again bro , can you tell me how to install efi on my ssd drive to get rid of the usb to boot to all of my OS .

Ok thank you mate I will try

Do tou have a video for that ?

It is included in my OpenCore EFI, but isn't merged with Acidanthera's VoodooPS2Controller (may be someday).
Keypad on Lenovo Y530 doesn't work #303
