Gigabyte B550 Vision D (Thunderbolt 3) + AMD Ryzen 7 3700X + AMD RX 5600 XT

You should look into selling all Firewire, UAD seems to be leaving Firewire and it seems that Big Sur dropped support for Firewire.

You should look over UAD forum thread for more info.
I have Thunderbolt 2 expansion card. However, I can't make my Hack see the card. Even though I see TB interface in the system info

Its not hotplugable, so did you try to turn your devices on first before powering up the computer?

I’m using the Apple TB3 to TB2 dongle with my Apollo Twin, and it works fine.

Hello Ivan,

Welcome to the forum. Please see the table below (from Post 1). If you've flashed the Thunderbolt firmware based on NVM 33 (the last column below) then Thunderbolt Bus and connected devices should work on Power On (both cold power on and warm power on). But as highlighted in the red box, it won't work after a "Reboot" from within macOS.
Quick question on that with the stock firmware, if you reboot from within macOS, TB doesn't connect, then can you simply unplug replug the TB cable to reestablish TB?

Or it has to be shut down, and then booted with the power button for Thunderbolt to be recognized?

Did anyone find out of the audio stuttering on TB can fixed?

Thanks so much

I have not been able to test my B550 Vision D build with macOS since im running 6800XT, but the last time i tried it audio was indeed still stuttering in macOS. This could be related to the B550 chipset since im not experiencing any audio issues with my Asrock X570 Phantom Gaming ITX/TB3. There is a new F11 Bios for Vision D out, have you tried it?

I don't have anything 5xxx yet, just doing some research on what to buy when I can even get a 5950x. Sadly on tuesday they had 4 in stock at the microcenter nearby, but I couldn't get down there in time...

I'm going to try it as a hack and win for daws (S1, PT, Ableton) with a focusrite Red 8Pre. Your Asrock setup looks good, but I would need 4 PCIe on the hack side. TB AIC card (x4), Highpoint U.2 card (x16), 10Gbe (x4), and video (x16). Do you know of any full ATX Asrock builds that are working?

I the first two posts of page 56, it is suggested that possibly there was a patch that might fix tb audio on the b550 v. d. I think these are included in CaseySJ's OC 0.6.5.

I saw you mention in another post that some plugins might not work on AMD/OSX- any specific ones you can mention?

You can still boot Big Sur / Catalina etc with the 6800 XT, you just won't get any hardware acceleration. As long as I don't try anything too graphically intensive my RX 6900 XT works fine.

Fortunately we can indeed unplug and re-plug (i.e. hot plug) after rebooting from within macOS.

The OC 0.6.5 EFI folder contains the latest kernel patches. But, alas, I don't own any UAD audio interfaces.
