  • New iOS-type naming convention for macOS (macOS Big Sur: 11.0, 11.1, etc...)
  • Updated Intel and AMD graphics drivers
  • Updated audio drivers- established users of Big Sur with AppleALC or VoodooHDA should not need to update.
  • Install macOS Big Sur App has been updated - If you downloaded macOS Big Sur from the App Store prior to today, and you want to have the latest version on your backup installer USB, simply log into the Mac App Store and click Download. Pre Update Notes
:
- This update may break some of your Big Sur functions. Make sure you backup first.

- Make sure you use the latest versions of the Lilu.kext, AppleALC.kext and WhateverGreen.kext.

Here's the step by step way to update:
:ch:Backup your current installation using Carbon Copy Cloner or SuperDuper;

:ch: Update to the latest Clover or OpenCore 0.6.4.
See the tonymacx86 Clover Builds (in Download menu) to update Clover. To update your OpenCore, see this guide. To convert from Clover to Open Core, see this guide.

:ch: (Oldie, but Goodie.) In February 2020, Apple "clamped down" on non Apple approved kexts. So, update Lilu, WhatEverGreen and AppleALC, placing them in your /EFI/.../Clover/kexts/other/. Remove these kexts from the /Library/Extensions/ folder. See tonymacx86's thread:
References:

:ch: Download the Big Sur 11.1 Update from Apple's Mac App Store using System Preferences > Software Update, and run it - the updater will reboot upon completion.
Note: Update will reboot several times; each time Clover/OpenCore picks the correct boot partition. So, sit back and relax. The update takes 2 reboots and ~20-30 minutes to complete.

:ch: Done! So far, another easy update!

Thanks Tony downloading! I guess macOS 12 will be coming fall 2021 and not an endless 11.x.

Been on this build since a few days ago. Works very nicely. Big Sur is far better in my opinion than Catalina... i had a ton of problems with Catalina; USB, sleep, Thunderbolt peripherals not firing on, crashes when waking up from sleep, and so on. Very bad experience, and not like the Apple I've come to know (Sierra and High Sierra were good builds... the issues started with 10.14 and worsened in 10.15).

The update took about 45 minutes and two reboots and seems to be working fine so far. Oddly though, there was no Preboot or other temp volume listed in OpenCanopy after each reboot. Instead, my main BS volume was selected each time.

Yes Big Sur 11.1 includes drivers for the RX 6000 series of dGPUs.

/System/Library/Extensions contains AMDRadeonX6000Framebuffer.kext plus other X6000 kexts.

AMDRadeonX6000Framebuffer.kext includes the Navi21Controller's list of device ID's.

The Device ID for the RX 6800 XT is 73BF1002.

Info.plist screenshot taken in Xcode, with Navi21 device ID's highlighted.

RX 6800 XT DevID is last in the highlighted line.

As with all Apple changes and updates, your milage may vary depending on which dGPU you purchase and install.
