So theres nothing I can provide to help you guys track the problem down.... Thats a bummer :(

Well Im just surprised that Big Sur isnt backwards compatible with its hardware.

So basically going forwards AirPlay 2 setup will never support original AirPlay configurations.

Nevermind

Thank you anyway guys.

that is why you were unable to upgrade to Big Sur because of hardware compatibility

you may be able to swap out the wifi module for an updated one though?

Wait guys. Im on Big Sur. Just with a modified EFI boot partition. Are we sure theres nothing I can do?

I have Big Sur on the device, just im having problems with AirPlay. Everything else works fine.

Sorry Feartech. Im trying to mention that Ive just not had a fully successful upgrade.

Ill try to obtain another wifi module from ebay :)

Not to worry. Im still happy that you guys have exhausted your efforts to help me.

Thank you for your time and assistance :)

not trying to state the obvious but if your hardware was compatible, then you would have been able to install Big Sur with no issues.

out of interest, as you intel hd3000 is not supported on Big Sur either, assumed you had to use a patch for that? or does the graphics look naff?

Little laggy because of the lack of hardware acceleration, but thats understandable.

It still works though. Its not a massive flop.....

Ive been researching online how to try and get hardware acceleration to work, but as for Big Sur actually running on the Mac, it does work.

I run a Kingston SSD on it with no problems. Going to upgrade it to 16gb memory just after Christmas or thats the plan anyway.
