[SUCCESS] Gigabyte Designare Z390 (Thunderbolt 3) + i7-9700K + AMD RX 580

Have you checked your serial number?

A few months ago my App Store stopped working and on checking the serial number on Apple's website I found it was a valid one, ie a real Mac has the same one. It hasn't when I first used it but after about a year it suddenly became one.

All I had to do was generate new SN, UUID, etc., reboot, and it all started working again.
I will do it just in case.. I have no apps that care - thanks

Make sure UVI and Sibelius are selecting the right audio device.

Everything has the right security settings allowed , they were working ok, weeks a go

this only affects those apps that depend on portaudio, DAWs like Logic, Ableton etc are Ok

@CaseySJ Are you able to play AppleTV encrypted content in Big Sur? I can't watch anything except my local library. Thanks.

Did these programs run correctly in Catalina? Or only in Mojave?

They work in Catalina are latest updates, something it's blocking "portaudio" , googling around there's some cases about this issue, but not a clear answer how to fix it , not having to do a new install

Concerning getting
I had read somewhere in the forum ,that old Z170 Mobos with internal TH and Sierra could work with antelope thunderbolt.
So, i had searched in second hand webs to find an Asus Thunderbolt EX II card. Just to test.

I had plugged it (without cable because is different) in a Gigabyte Z390 Extreme Mobo with an i9 9900K, and Interface was recogniced fine in Antelope pannel with all remote control functions and appears in audio panel ("Antelope Zen Tour")

After updated Thunderbolt Antelope Driver and Antelope Control Panel, everything to latest version, not recognize it anymore.
So your findings are that Asus ThunderboltEX II works for you Zen Tour under an old firmware, WITHOUT plugging the header cable in the motherboard? Which driver bundle?

The key factor here is macOS High Sierra rather than any particular make/model of Thunderbolt AIC.

I use Migration Assistant. You have to uncheck "Other Files and Folders". BTW, I learned this trick a long time ago on tonymacx86. If I ever find the link, I'll post it here.

Thanks a lot @Stork for the suggestion . I will give it a shot. This is my first time I'm using Migration Assistant. Did in place upgrades up until today. Another thing I learned is that I should not have pre-created a user that is being migrated from legacy setup, but I do not think that this is the reason for kernel panic, should only mess up the user in the worst case.

I have had 2 bad experiences with Migration Assistant, as have others here. my belief is that some system files are migrated from old to new system, which of course isn't supposed to happen.

if it were me, I would do another fresh install of Catalina on your new drive, then manually transfer all your files and apps from High Sierra. the only downside to this is that since migration assistant won't be transferring your applications and associated settings, you'll need to re-license any apps that have licenses associated with them.
Totally agree, pretty poor (means no) documentation from Apple on what precisely going on behind the scenes when you run it... Unfortunately though I have no time to restore it manually (it is simply beyond imaginable :) ). Need to find ways restore my High Sierra into Catalina

Yes no problem. Just played bits of Defending Jacob on Apple TV+.
