Hey I'm doing mu build with specs (for now, paid but waiting for some parts so still can customize it) :
Z490 VISION G
I9-10850k
32GB RAM Patriot
etc..

and now comes things about GPU, I would already have bought Rx 6800 XT if it would be avaliable.

But now I'm considering if I need 6800 XT or RTX 3080 as I would use windows aswell for some gaming, maybe streaming, video rendering in davinci resolve etc.

I need GPU for my hack, I'll use mac for web developing, overall programming, photoshop work, some but mostly I wouldn't play games on it.
Don't even know if I'll use hackintosh often I ordered Macbook AIR M1 16GB and maybe it will be enough for most of my job.
So I'm wondering if RX 570 would be enough to use for that jobs and just simply disable RTX 3080 on big sur.
So do you think should I go dual gpu or wait for RX 6800 XT as RX570 would be bottleneck for this build in hackintosh? Also does RX 570 will be supported in versions after big sur?

It's best to look at the last mac model with similar graphics and add 5 years.

But the real limiting factor here is as we know Apple is switching to ARM based CPUs and the next two years, so how long Apple wants to support Intel is up to them, but I would expect them to hopefully carry on supporting existing (pre-M1) hardware for at least the same amount of time.

I remember reading somewhere that apple guarantees OS and security updates for 5 years. So going by that you have 5 years of support from the day that they stop selling the intel based version of that type of mac. and I would think that the following year after the last Intel mac's 5 year period is up in the 6th year the OS will probably drop all support for x86 binaries and will be Apple Silicon only.

I personally believe 2025(or 5 years from the last Intel Mac release) will be our last supported macOS release, but could end sooner when none-T2 chip macs are off the support list. But as you say, they should still offer security updates for a while after that(hopefully).

RX 6800 XT may get supported by macOS Big Sur 11.1 as IDs have been added.

Bought RX 6800 XT at the end. Close
