Hi all,

I am strugging getting Catalina to install on an Asus ROG Strix Z390-F. After a few minutes of the initial copying files to the installation volume I get the error message: An error occurred while preparing the installation. Try running this application again.

I have done all the suggested BIOS settings. I am booting fine. I copied the EFI folder from the person who had success with the ROG Strix Z390-I, and since then I have at least made it to the installation screen.

Any advice would be much appreciated!

Thanks,
Phil

P.S. I am running an i5-9400 9th Gen, a Radeon RX 570, and have 16GB of RAM in the system in the slots advised by ASUS. Also, I am installing onto an SSD. I have tried on two different kinds. Same result. I also tried the Fix Ownership clover config, as suggested by somebody, and that did not help.

Have you progressed? I have the same issue. I figured that I need to disable the SIP stuff on the mac creating the Unibeast/OpenCore first. Otherwise, SIP is enabled on Unibeast creation, then you can't disable it since it is now protected. A catch 22 type thing. So we're locked out.

It was recommended to me to try again with an older version of MacOS. I am going to try again tomorrow and see if I can borrow my friend's Mac (2 hours away- lol) or try to do it with opencore?

If yours is working, I'd like to hear what you did to get it working.

I got everything working great on OpenCore including BigSur. Happy to share my config file with you for the latest OpenCore 6.2. Let me know if you’d like it just please spawn a different serial number! :)

Actually, that would be very helpful. I have tried 5 opencore installs without success.
