Gigabyte Z390 M Gaming build with working NVRAM

I ran a bunch of geekbench 5 tests on clover EFIs 5120 and 5126, testing iMac19,1 and iMacPro1,1, on Catalina and Big Sur (5126 only of course). I think the problems I was having in FCPX on 5126 seem to show up in the GPU benchmarks. My BIOS settings are same as my recent post, overclocked (with vcore on Auto). Note I left iGPU enabled when switching back over to iMacPro1,1, I didn’t think it messed things up but I’m not certain.

The numbers show a big performance hit after 5120 on Catalina. I didn’t test 5122 but probably will later on. I found the same problems with OpenCore 0.6.3 on Catalina, and didn’t chase OpenCore versions back to find better scores, 0.6.3 was my first OpenCore experience. I’m just guessing, but could this performance hit have to do with the OpenRuntime switch? It seems the wisest to stay on 5120 for a Catalina build, but I’m unsure about compatibilities with future Catalina updates on the older clover.

Even though things seem to have went south on Catalina, the Big Sur benchmarks look promising :)

Clover itself shouldn't have any affect on dGPU. The only thing that should have any affect would be WhateverGreen. RadeonBoost.kext dropped support for Navi cards a while back.

I had to remove the boost kext before installation, I was panicing with it when I first installed. It’s not in my 5120 EFI, thanks for info! Maybe I can use an older WEG on 5126...

You can try... WhateverGreen versions are locked to specific Lilu versions so you may have to downgrade most of your kexts.

I am not sure. I never mapped those ports.

F_USB2 is HS11. I confirmed that if I plug in a USB2 device into my Titan Ridge card(Using a USBC->USBA adapter) it works and shows up in Hackintool under HS11.

Here is the port mapping info if anyone wants to use it. Just copy HS10 and change HS10 to HS11 and for the port value a->b

I then deleted SS04 since I just had a USB2 keyboard dongle plugged into it.

I get "The macOS installation couldn't be completed" when I try to either upgrade to Catalina over a mojave ssd or if I install clean Catalina to brand new SSD. My 5700XT card is installed. Thinking I have to pull it in order for it to install. Or is there something else that can be done?... because wow that's a pain if that's how security updates will behave. I've been running it with just internal graphics all this time.

I've never seen that and I've never had to pull my video card out to do an update. However, if memory serves me correctly, Mojave had no Navi support.

What do the logs say? Are you using Clover or OpenCore?

Hi @pastrychef, I came to try to use your Clover EFI and in my case it was unstable, crashing on Idle. OpenCore strangely didn't even boot.
I ended up doing just like you, doing it on my own, EFI Opencore.
If you want to give an evaluation?
EFI OpenCore

Hey @pastrychef,

I have some problems with the sleep-wake cycle and shutdown reboot for my Z390M. I use the OC 0.6.3 config files, OS is big sur.

Due to vega 56 use 3 PCIe blocks, I put my BCM94360CS2 in pcie x4 and usb connect to F_USB1.

I check the log, the wake reason is following.
2020-11-23 18:10:50 -0700 Wake Wake from Normal Sleep [CDNVA] : due to XDCI CNVW USBW/User Using AC (Charge:0%)

Still not sure if I'm missing something here.. Computer sleeps just fine and stays asleep. But if I have a USB drive plugged in upon waking up I get. "Disk not ejected properly". I'm using your EFI folder for opencore 0.6.3 with my info.

How are you doing the clean install? Are you making an installer flash drive with either PC’s EFI or UniBeast?
