[SUCCESS] Gigabyte Designare Z390 (Thunderbolt 3) + i7-9700K + AMD RX 580

Quite a shame for the WiFi, I had my hopes up. I'm currently using an old iPhone in tethering mode.

On my daughter's Z390 Master I have found that the 1.2.0-Alpha drivers work far far better than the 1.1.0-Stable ones.
Give them a try and see how you get on.

Download Link.

I'm installing my new Designare today. I have flashed the TB chip.
I will use HackinDROM to create a custom SSDT.
in addition to that, are any other SSDT's required?
what about mods to my DSDT?

thanks

If you download @CaseySJ's EFI then all the SSDTs, Kexts etc are already there for you. Use the relevant Intel/AMD gpu config file and add your own Serial Number, UUID etc.

If you're going with OpenCore (which I suggest)
Download OC 0.6.3 EFI folder
Follow this guide to generate your config.plist (for Macintosh Product Name select iMacPro1,1 or iMac19,1, if you have AMD GPU go with iMacPro1,1, more details here)
From downloaded EFI->OC folder delete config-AMD-GPU.plist and config-Intel-iGPU.plist.
From downloaded EFI->OC->ACPI folder delete SSDT-Z390-DESIGNARE-TB3HP-V4.aml
Move HackinDROM generated config.plist inside EFI->OC folder
Move HackinDROM generated Thunderbolt SSDT inside EFI->OC->ACPI
using latest version of OpenCore Configurator open generated config.plist and add HackinDROM's Thunderbolt SSDT into ACPI section and delete SSDT-Z390-DESIGNARE-TB3HP-V4.aml
You're EFI is ready to be tested on a USB stick!

Thanks. I will move on to the Designare after I finish moving my Aorus Pro to an old case to make room for the Designare.

The Aorus has an AR card. I have just flashed it with Elias1.bin. I created a custom SSDT with your wonderful tool. Is that the only thunderbolt-related SSDT I need?
thanks!

Yes, the other Thunderbolt-related SSDT is SSDT-DTPG.aml which is already included in Casey's EFI folders

still working on the Aorus/alpine ridge

I used your tool to create a new SSDT--I chose the alpine ridge item from the selector in the tool.

I compiled and downloaded, and renamed as SSDT-Aorus-DROM.aml

however, it didn't activate the TB controller.

I replaced it with the old SSDT I had been using and it did activate TB.

then I tried to use your tool to modify my SSDT. I selected my file, uploaded, clicked on Customize/compile, and tried to fill in all the fields. however, I was not allowed to type any value in the last box of the custom DROM address. leaving that box blank, I clicked Compile. I was then presented with another screen, attached as screen shot 1. I clicked the download button and instead of downloading I was presented with another screen, attached as screen shot 2.

would you be kind enough to modify my SSDT?
thanks!

Hi @CaseySJ - I just tried to update my OC to 63, however now whenever I try to boot, my screen goes black unless I go into BIOS and enable IGPU and plug monitor into the motherboard..

Prior to this, I had BIOS IGPU as 'Auto' and was able to plug monitor into the RX 5700 XT graphics card without problem. Do you know what i could be doing wrong that caused this?

I am on Z390 Designare with Intel GPU

You're working on Z390 AORUS Extreme Thunderbolt Controller or on Add-in-Card Alpin-Ridge?
however, it didn't activate the TB controller.
What you mean by this?
I was not allowed to type any value in the last box of the custom DROM address.
Fixed last DROM's byte, now you can edit that field.

If all fields in Customise window are blank that mean there's no ThunderboltDROM section in your SSDT.
HackinDROM will dont add it for you, because HackinDROM dont know which DROM you need

if you get a weird page like that its because there's an error in your SSDT so compilation failed! Maybe you forgot to close a bracket, or some comma error. But I think its because you tried to Compile without having ThunderboltDROM section in your SSDT.

would you be kind enough to modify my SSDT?
Yes, I developed this tool, but I dont know much about Hackintosh and SSDT's haha, but if you explain me what you want to achieve maybe I can help you.
