[Success] - Asus ROG Strix Z490-E Gaming + i9 10900K + OpenCore

There must be something wrong with that USB stick I created. It's a 32GB Transcend, which was empty (but I formatted it exactly as described, on my Mac). It works on my Mac, no problem.

I inserted a different USB stick, which I can select to boot from (but I don't think there is a boot sector on it at all though!).

So I must find a different USB stick, maybe a 16GB, and try to make a new one.

Any other ideas?
Thats probably the issue unless its set up incorrectly. The bios won't see it if the hidden EFI folder is wrong.

@scope666 I see that you have SSDT-PM.aml in your ACPI, could you please explain a little bit about when you need this file?
Another question, how you can measure the speed of USB port? for me, it's didnt show dev speed the same as your picture in post #5, all Unknown

I tried another USB stick now. They are both 3.0 and 32GB. I don't have any 16GB USB sticks.

I have downloaded Catalina, I am using UniBeast and it makes the stick with no complaints at all. My PC can see other USB stick, only not the ones I have made with UniBeast.

I am a bit lost here, but will go back and review the process again, to see if I missed something.

Btw, one guide says "Any OS", the other one says select "Windows". Which one is correct?

12. At Bootloader Options screen choose UEFI Boot Mode or Legacy Boot Mode. UEFI Boot Mode is recommended for 7/8/9/100/200/300 Series CustoMac desktops and all UEFI capable systems. Legacy Boot Mode is recommended for 5/6 Series CustoMac desktops and all BIOS based systems.

I chose UEFI Boot Mode. I am thinking, I should try with Legacy? Will that work on the Z490?

UPDATE: Solved!

For now, anyway.

I DID miss a TINY little step in the guide: It says in Catalina I need to select "View All" before I format. I could already see the USB so didn't select that. Format, no complaints. Ah, the GUID table option was missing, but I couldn't select it.

Because I didn't select "View All" first.

Now I got a green clover leaf, and will continue with the install (hoping that 4 leaf clover will bring me luck!)

UPDATE 2: Hmmm ...

I get the clover screen, click the "External" in the middle and press space (or something). It boots, I see the white apple logo but then no more happens.

I had enough fun for one day, need to try again tomorrow.

Is Unibeast still applicable? I have yet to do a Z490 install but I have been reading the Dortania guide (my understanding is that 10th gen Intel hacks have to be done via OpenCore) and I don't remember seeing Unibeast as a tool to use there.

Unibest won't work, because it creates a bootloader using clover, I'm tried to boot with clover last time but the latest version of clover not work, so I switch to OC.

Question: I upgrade to OC 0.6.3 currently, and when boot window using OC, I got the error: acpi_bios_error, I didn't face this error when using 0.6.1, anybody faces this error currently like me?

Edit: window boot totally normal when using bios

That list of USB devices, I don't know where to find it. I have found USB SIngle Port Control in the BIOS setup, where it seems I can disable some of the ports. But it looks nothing like post #5.

I would try one of these... try more than one if it still doesn't see the usb drive:

That’s kind of what I figured, boot drive gone wrong. Meanwhile Clover? Which version? Lot of issues there in the newer versions my friend. Also if you have any intention of moving into Big Sur better think about OC and @scope666 has already got 6.2 ready for you.
See here for ongoing issues with Clover and moderator comments

Did you follow the newest version of the guide for 6.3 and change your config.plist to match? You can also try the Sanity Check and see what it finds there

Yes, follow every step in 6.3 when migrate, when window boot error, I try to check again and find nothing weird.
Also checked with Sanity Check, at the third time, when boot win still fails, I redo every step to gen config.plist again, follow dortania guild.

Currently, it still fails with acpi_bios_error

Another thing not related to this issue: intel wifi 6 work when using iltwm kext, bluetooth work like a charm.
