Intel NUC 10 Frost Canyon

Hey guys,

Anyone has a working EFI for my BXNUC10i5FNK2?

I tried following the steps to build my own but I seem to missed a step or something and can't boot.

Thanks in advance and much appreciated!
You can try this, its nothing I've been able to test but it might do the trick for you.

Thanks a lot Leesureone!
It went further than my own attempt and into the installer but my 970 EVO Plus NVMe M.2 SSD doesn't seem to be working properly so I cannot continue with the installation.
I will do some more reading and trying tomorrow. Thanks again in any case!

Have you updated the firmware on your EVO Plus? Also check your bios settings, make sure secure boot is off. If you already have done both of those things then use disk utility to format the drive, default settings are fine

It turns out your file worked amazingly well after all! My problem was due to a random Windows partition on the drive the could not be deleted by Disk Utility. I had to boot with a Windows USB and use diskpart to delete all the partitions. Then I was able to install macOS properly.

Most things work great (including audio and Bluetooth). The only things that seem not to be working atm are the SD card reader and WIFI both of which I don't care that much about. Apple Trackpads and Keyboards work great, the system is able to go to sleep and then return from sleep (this was not the case with Ubuntu).

Finally, I haven't updated the firmware and I do have the old one on the EVO Plus so thanks for mentioning that, nonetheless, I am finding it next to impossible to update the firmware on the NUC without a Windows installation. I am unable to get the USB firmware to boot and I am guessing that would only work if I had the EVO on an actual Mac. The only thing I can think is getting an external enclosure and putting the drive on my actual Mac in order to update the Firmware. Do you also think that's the only way given I don't have another machine with Windows to connect it on?

Once more, many thanks for the EFI! It has been a lifesaver!

You'll need some flavor of windows to be able to update the firmware.

Have thought about temporarily installing Windows on the Evo Plus drive, then downloading the Samsung Magician Software to update it and then starting over with OSx? You have the option to skip entering the key at the start of install in favor of doing it later, no need to activate it either.

I tried that but I was getting an error that Windows was unable to change the boot record and install was failing. Definitely, I don't want to try that again now that I have macOS working fine. I guess the best way would be to get the casing and plug it on a Windows machine as an external drive.

Recent posts have reported problems with Sleep not working consistently. With my other Hacks, if Sleep was only momentary, it was generally caused by improper USB port mapping. With my NUC10i7, Sleep has worked consistently using example EFI files posted here.

I just went through the exercise of trying to remap USB ports. However, IORegistryExplorer and Hackintool, consistently reported the following ports as active: HS1, HS2, HS3, HS4, HS6, HS7, HS9, HS10, SS1, SS2, SS3, SS4, SSP1 regardless what USB-related kexts, or SSDTs I used.

Since the USB 15 port limit doesn't apply to the NUC10i7, I've removed all these related SSDTs and kexts, without ill effect.

The main problem I've been experiencing was that when I Shutdown, the NUC10i7 shuts down, but eventually Reboots on its own after various time periods.

To me this problem had to be in my BIOS power settings. So I went to the BIOS Power -> Secondary Power Settings window and made some changes:

I changed Deep S4/S5 to ON.
I changed Wake on Lan from S4/S5 to Stay Off.
I changed Wake System from S5 to Off.

I also turned the Card Reader setting back on. I had turned it off based on a prior post. Since I dual boot to Windows it might be usable, but probably not. (As mentioned above, I've never had Sleep problems.)

It appears these BIOS setting changes have resolved Shutdown so it doesn't Reboot at some random time. I'll have to try an overnight Shutdown to confirm the problem is resolved. Good news -- the Hack did not reboot on its own overnight!

Attached below is the EFI I'm using for my configuration. SMBIOS settings have been removed.

I hope this information might help, but nothing with a Hack is guaranteed! :)

I forget if that works on not, might check the Samsung magician documentation before you buy an external case, pretty sure it has to be connected to the motherboard.

The other thing you can do is run the boot camp utility and partition the drive so you can install Windows in there temporarily. Just long enough to update the firmware. Then use disk utility if you want to get rid of it.
