pastrychef's Asus ROG Strix Z370-G Gaming (WI-FI AC) build w/ i9-9900K + AMD 6600 XT

By the way, I can confirm that CorpNewt's CPU-Name no longer works for Catalina and beyond for modifying the Processor name. Googling around to the other mac forums end up with a bricked system (Luckily I had a cloned copy of my NVMe to repeat the tests)

So close yet so far..

Yes I found that one too. Eventually I fixed it by logging out iCloud remove the Photos Library in Pictures folder. Starting Photos again to create a new library, logging in into iCloud again. Now all photos are downloaded again. Possibly some corruption in the library was causing high load on this process but obviously no root cause to this update.

Before the issue with VTEncoderXPCService I had an issue with accountsd, it all looks iCloud / permissions related. Have started in sofemode once and it looks to better now but there are more calls about high cpu load on some services after applying 10.15.7 so be warned.

I've been noticing a good number of people having difficulty downloading/updating to the latest Big Sur Public Beta. No problems here... Everything went smooth as silk.

Hey Pastry, would your EFI folder also work with the Asus Z270E Gaming mainboard? Thanks

Everything except USB should work. You will need to redo the USB configuration because it's different on every motherboard.

Thanks very much, off to do this.
Any recommendation on recent UniBeast or Clover? Installing Mojave on it (or evtl Catalina, not sure about).

Try this:
Create your USB installer.
Download and copy the latest OpenCore EFI from post #1 to the EFI partition of your USB installer.
Open the config.plist on the USB installer with OpenCore Configurator.
Delete all the PCI devices in config.plist > DeviceProperties.

Enable XhciPortLimit in config.plist > Kernel.

Delete the USBPorts.kext from /EFI/OC/Kexts/.
Plug USB installer in to Z270E motherboard and try installing.

Hi pastrychef (and other 'brother/sisters in build'), after running without a single issue your fantastic build for almost two years, today I started preparing to upgrade my hackintosh from Mojave 10.14.2 to 10.14.4 (a risk that I had to take due to some software that requires it and that I absolutely need to install).

As a first step I opened Clover configurator on my main partition, upgraded it to the latest and then used it to upgrade Clover as well. I immediately rebooted my mac to have the newest Clover running and that's when things went south: on startup the system throws the following error: "Cannot find config.plist/Quirks // A fatal error happened. System halted."

Is there something i can do from my original bootable USB installation drive to recover things? I can startup from it and run Clover configurator, but then I don't know what to do. Update the kexts on the main partition? If so, it's not clear to me how I can select it in configurator rather than the USB drive. A long time has passed since I built my system so, sadly, I probably would need more basic step-by-step instructions.

Thank in advance for any help!

SOLVED: I reverted to my previous EFI folder simply by mounting the EFI partition, deleting the EFI folder and copy/pasting from the backup that Clover configurator kindly created this morning for me!
