I'm working on my first Powermac G5 hackintosh project and I'm trying to figure out how can I install a silent PSU in the least invasive way (not cutting [too much?] the top tray or using the native psu case).
I'm planning on using an Asus ROG MAXIMUS XI HERO with an M.2 SSD and a Radeon VII GPU (the PSU calculator said I need 603w), so I'm guessing 600w~650w would work.
I'm doing a ton of research, and I just learned that the ideal form factor for the case at the bottom is the 1U one. But those are normally server PSUs and are too loud. So the quietest solution would be a gutted PSU to fit the original case.
I'm an enthusiast and not an engineer. So I wouldn't want to mess with soldering or wiring. I don't want to create a fire hazard.
And for the top tray, an SFX PSU would probably fit without cutting the tray.
Now, my main question is:
Does anyone know of a 1U sized silent PSU that would give me the right wattage?
Or, would it be possible that someone could pre-mod a silent one for me and ship it so it fits the original PowerMac bottom case?
Thank you in advance for all your help.
