Gigabyte Z490 Vision D (Thunderbolt 3) + i5-10400 + AMD RX 580

Sadly, I have tried all of that. I'm an engineer and well versed in troubleshooting techniques. Though I'm not too familiar with how to play around with kexts, aml files, etc. To me HW is linear, SW is non-linear.

I tried a minimal system (no USB header connections, no Fenvi, no SSDs or drives except for the one I installed on). Just the RX580, SATA drive, wired mouse and wired keyboard as the only peripherals (and the base OC EFI). Both Windows and MacOS can't sleep properly. I wish I had multiple versions of hardware to try. But that would be cost prohibitive for me. It acts like the power supply, just can't handle low loads and shuts down completely. I'll see how the week goes with this new workflow. Thanks again for still thinking about my issues.

Please try the following in BIOS:
  • Settings --> Platform Power Management --> Power Loading --> Enabled

Notice the description of Power Loading at the bottom of the screen:

"Enables or Disables dummy load. When the power supply is at low load, a self-protection will activate causing it to shutdown or fail. If this occurs, please set to Enabled."

Hi @CaseySJ ,
I want to thank about excellent support. I made mi new built with excellent results.
Using:
- Open Core 0.6.1
- Mac OS Catalina 10.15.7
- Core i7 10700K.
- Directly install over a Sabrent Rocket Q 1 TB
- Fenvi FV-T919 WiFi / Bluetooth Wireless Card it is working great. I can share Airplay with my iPad Pro very fluid. Looks great
- Graphics Radeon RX560 and Internal UHD630 Working.

I use this tool OpenCore Sanity Checker

https://opencore.slowgeek.com

It was necessary to custom the Load Line Calibration and VCore for better procesor temperature working.

Awesome -- glad to hear it!

An update to the post about OpenIntelWireless on Z490 Vision D

I previously posted these three screenshots. The first two show WiFi speeds, and the third shows wired Ethernet speed.

Today I ran the same test on the 2020 Apple MacBook Pro 13" and the AMD Ryzen Gigabyte B550 Vision D, and obtained these results:

This makes me feel a lot better about the OpenIntelWireless driver on Z490 Vision D (using Intel AX201 module). We can safely conclude that the relatively slow WiFi speed is due to the router I'm using and the obstructions in the line of sight from the first floor to the second floor. The router (Netgear Orbi RBK50) is handling six full time security cameras as well.

Might upgrade to Amplifi Alien... ;)

Looking forward to WiFi 6 + 160 MHz channel support.

Hi all,
Posted a few days ago, but to sum up- I flashed the TB chip, Apple Thunderbolt Display worked great for few days. Became increasingly erratic, worked after sleep, only before sleep, not at all, 1st try, boot times were longer and the desktop bg was always different when it did work.
I suspected I did the DROM wrong, so I rolled back to my backup. And did the DROM website method again.
This time the ATD doesn't work at all. No other TB devices to test really at the moment.
I'm trying everything plugged in before boot, cold boot, warm boot etc. It's a startech tb adapter.
The Thunderbolt bus looks correct, the IOservice list looks correct. Just cannot see devices.
I tried a nvram reset.
Anyone have any ideas where to start looking?

Unfortunately at the moment I'm a bit less optimistic about wifi speed.
I made the same test on my router and speed result are ...
Z490 Vision D wifi peed is about 1/18 of cabled speed and also about 1/7 respect to my iPhone and 1/9 respect to my MBPro. My connection is a 1Gb FTTH line
this is life... :)

@tonben
I saw your 192KHz comments but I have a Vision D with i9-10850K and an Apollo Twin. I'm getting pops and clicks at 96KHz with a 64 buffer, a 128 buffer and 256 buffer, etc.
I never had this with my i7-7700K hackintosh. What am I missing?
In the UAD groups they said I should turn a few things off in the bios (Windows users) but those weren't in any of the guides here and froze me when geek bench testing.
It was also suggested to me to overclock to prevent throttling.

My UAD is up to date. My Catalina is 10.15.6. BIOS F5

The main reason I built this system was to run more at 96KHz at a low low buffer.

I don't know what happen but i have a "start image failed" at boot sometimes.
i have to enter BIOS and just save and exit, then boot picker and Catalina start normally.
(i'm using "Opencore" as first boot option in BIOS)
is there a solution to correct this?

This happens occasionally when switching between operating systems. Perhaps a future release will fix this, but in the meantime try setting:
  • Misc --> Security --> BootProtect --> None
Then Reset NVRAM from the OpenCore Picker at the next boot.
