Gigabyte Z490 Vision D (Thunderbolt 3) + i5-10400 + AMD RX 580

MacOS installer will take a few moments to load and run.
@CaseySJ all parts are in. Have updated the BIOS to F5. I picked the USB installer and after restart arrived at the OC picker. The Apple and progress bar appeared. The progress bar appears to be stalled. When you write, installer will take a few moments, about how long is a few moments?

We should give it 10-15 minutes.

I restarted and in BIOS under boot there is a new choice for open core in addition to the usb efi choice. I chose that one but seem to be stuck at 50% again

FYI... Samsung 980 EVO PRO delivering up to 7000 MB/s on PCIe 4.0.

I hope Rocket lake brings the pci gen 4.0 power, oh and that this new Samsung controller plays nice with macOS, given the fiasco of the version 1 firmware on the 970 Evo plus.

Please add -v to Boot Arguments in the NVRAM section of OpenCore Configurator. This will enable verbose mode.

Then boot the system, but at the OpenCore Picker menu, press <spacebar> to reveal additional options. The rightmost one will be Reset NVRAM. Select that.

When system reboots, try the installation again.

Being new to OC, I am not sure how to get to get to OC configurator without getting to the desktop.
Additionally, I waited 22 minutes with no change

Alright, I have now installed the Z490 Vision D into my computer.

However, I still get black screen when I boot into Catalina 10.15.6 installer...
Prepared a USB stick according to the instructions in the thread.

So, blackscreen issue is not related to motherboard choice.

Oddly enough, I am also unable to boot into my existing Big Sur system. It returns back to OpenCore picker after trying to patch the kernel or something. Will investigate soon.

This Navi stuff on OS X is a big disappointment. It is awful that the only good dedicated GPU for Mac is the RX 5XX series, if I am not mistaken.

@elfcake,

I've moved the remaining discussion into a separate thread in Catalina Desktop Support:
