Intel NUC 10 Frost Canyon

interesting indeed.
Well woke up this morning, browsed a few webpages and the pausing came back!!
Updating firmware now just in case. What are your bios settings? Not sure if I have missed something or left something enabled (or vice versa)...

My BIOS is FNCML357.0044.2020.0715.18.13
I've got secure and legacy boot disabled and that is about it.

New BIOS is out...

This is my EFI for the i5, seems stable - bluetooth and wifi work (you need to input your SSID and password into the info.plist in the ltwmx.kext package) the sound is fine on first boot but is temperamental after sleep. Also shut down reboots rather than shuts down. Hope it helps !

Hi @Majesticmatt, I have created a repo based on your attachment. Thanks for your great work!

I've got NUC10i7FNH running Catalina 10.15.6 as Macmini8,1
I am using the EFI-0.6.0 file provided by daTscharlie
Most of the time Bluetooth and WiFi are not available after a reboot. But sometimes, both work just fine.
So, it is great and frustrating at the same time ;)
Any ideas? Will setting MacBookPro16,2 as system product name improve stability?
Also, the fan runs audibly all the time which is annoying.
Thank you all for awesome hacking job.
Cheers,

My advice would be to use the latest versions of kexts. I used to notice the same, but now it seems work quite stable.
MacBook SMBios will play no role for this.
As for FANs - again - try the latest SMC kexts - they are responsible for CPU power handling.
Also you can try my EFI (this is up to date kexts, OC 6.1 and custom AppleALC) - but you need to generate your own SMBios data to boot

dolgarrenan,
any news about perfectly running TB3 ACPI ?
My CalDigit TB3 Dock doesn't work after restart - the only help is to re-plug it when MacOS is running.
I also tried this - but it hangs at start.

svandive, daTscharlie - where are you, don't sleep)) how are you guys advancing in making NUC10 stable?
As for me, I switched from MacBook Pro 13 2017 to NUC as main machine and I am quite happy with it despite the following:
1. Still no AppleALC native support
2. Hack loses my TB3 dock on restart
3. CPU emulation
4. No native graphics card support (no native device-id)

NUC 8 Gen has almost twice better performance GPU than NUC 10 Gen.
NUC 10 Gen CPU is only 10-15% faster than NUC 8 Gen.
NUC 10 Gen has more issues with macOS...
Conclusion: Does not make sensu to buy NUC 10 Gen.

Hi zavrus, I copied over the drivers and kext from your EFI and Bluetooth/WiFi was more stable after reboots. Thanks so much for that. I did not notice any change in fan speed. What BIOS power options did you select?
Devildothack in his Jul 15 post indicated that MacBookPro16,2 got lower Geekbench test scores than Macmini8,1
I am willing to give up some performance for a quiet fan. Did you choose Macmini8,1?
Cheers,

Some NUCs have bad quality control and can ship with defective cooling (hence the fan noise), you might want to check with a Windows install if you have the same problem. If so, just ask for replacement.
