Thanks UtterDisbelief

I've just updated my Profile.
In addition : Corsair Force MP600 NVME 1 To, 2 x 16 GB Crucial Ballistix DDR4 3200

I've installed OS X 10.15.6, following instructions given by MacMan. Only difference is that I used newer tools versions (Unibeast, Multibeast, Clover configurator, ...).
All went fine and my desktop seems to run perfectly, except these continuing messages in console.

I chose SMBIOS iMac19,1
All hardware is correctly recognized, except for CPU, appearing as Core i9 in "About this Mac", but with proper speed (3.0 GHz).

Last thing I just saw is that the iGPU (UHD 630) does not appear inside system report, unless booting with a display connected to it. Also noticed that wake from sleep won't wake the display on this HDMI port, unless switching it off and on, or disconnecting/reconnecting the HDMI connection.
HDMI port on the RX560 works perfetcly, and for now I just use one display, so this is not a big problem for me.

I've followed this basic build and then immediately upgrade to Catalina. Everything is working great except one thing, I use the ASUS TUF z390-Pro Gaming's onboard Graphics.

-Display Port and HDMI at same time causes flickering horizontal lines.

-Running only a Display Port monitor works fine.

I'm not sure if this is framebuffer related or something else. I'm attaching a screenshot to see if someone can point me in the right direction. I've been trying too many things and haven't had success yet. Would be happy to share my EFI or try out someone else's if you would share.

@mhmacgre, I got that flicker every so often in Mojave. I just turn off one monitor or disconnect and it seems to work. Give that a shot.

If you were able to upgrade to Catalina no problem, could I have a look at your EFI/config.plist? It would help me out a lot.

@PhantomSlapESQ Mine is flickering all the time and disconnecting didn't seem to help (I'm away today but will test again tomorrow evening to verify). I am able to remote in no problem... so here's my current config (like I said, I've been trying a lot of things so I have a few versions):

@mhmacgre I'd try frame buffering. However, I still can't boot into Catalina, and a more knowledgable person than myself @UtterDisbelief said that my model number iMac19,2 and the Platform ID are in conflict. Yours has this same conflict. I've been studying config.plist of those who say they have working ASUS TUF Z390. I think you should take a look and see if getting those in sync would help your issue. https://www.tonymacx86.com/threads/...tuf-z390-w-intel-uhd-630.303509/#post-2173521

I would never claim to be more knowledgable, you may be a PhD Computer Scientist after all! I just highlighted a potential reason your display goes black during boot. I was suggesting you tried a different "ig-platform-id" as a way of trying to get your iGPU recognised correctly - and perhaps one that matched the system-definition you are using was a good way to start. No Hackintosh is a perfect duplicate of a real Mac so we have to experiment and go with what works.

Please don't pursue this on two different threads as posts may get flagged as duplicate and removed. Thanks.

:)

Did you upgrade to Catalina without upgrading the tools (MultiBeast/Unibeast, EFI Mounter V3, Clover Configurator and KextBeast, .... files)? In other words just click upgrade to Catalina in Mojave?

Does anyone have a list of actions to perform before upgrading from Mojave to Catalina? Or just a starter so I can post a detailed list of actions here after my upgrade.

I have upgraded everything, but I can't recall what I did before or after upgrade to fix problems anymore. For the most part it went smoothly. Hoping to spend some time soon addressing the Display Port + HDMI out issue I'm having.

  1. Make sure you have a second computer.
  2. Create a backup of data
  3. Create a new partition/container or put on a new hard drive (so it doesn't mess up Mojave if install goes poorly).
  4. Setup OpenCore EFI using the official Guide & Coffee Lake instructions.
  5. Remove Clover EFI on Hard drive.
  6. Remove Clover EFI from Unibeast/Clover USB Drive or create new one according to OC instructions.
  7. Fill in a fake APPL,ig-platform-id in your OC config.plist. (something that isn't real that isn't suggested, and especially nothing from this list. Make it 12345678 or something (not the ones suggested by the OC Guide yet).
  8. Install from OpenCore USB to new partition/container on Hardrive.
  9. You won't have any graphics acceleration, but I think a functional iGPU is required for install.
  10. Move EFI on USB to EFI on Hard drive.
  11. Turn on VNC/Screenshare/Remote Desktop (just in case).
  12. Put these graphics settings to get iGPU stable:

  13. Reboot and ensure your iGPU connectors and acceleration work (if that matters to you).
  14. Put this boot-arg in the NVRAM section so you have stable sleep with monitors: igfxonln=1

  15. Drop the Mic and realized I've saved you 2 weeks of time (if everything goes well).
  16. I might post my EFI once I feel like I've perfected it and if anyone cares to see it.
  17. I don't know anything about dGPU stuff.
Thanks to @pastrychef & @UtterDisbelief for their help finally getting Catalina on this mobo.

If you still have issues I recommend at least making sure you have the latest version of Lilu/Whatevergreen, and nothing else from Clover is interfering. Flickering is weird and I haven't experienced that but only when coming from sleep. When I added this boot-arg with WEG, it went away: igfxonln=1. You could try a fresh install of OpenCore or try the settings in the above in Clover which should work in the "Device" section.
