[SUCCESS] Gigabyte Designare Z390 (Thunderbolt 3) + i7-9700K + AMD RX 580

Hi Casey,

Ok no worries any all. I am about to retest 0.6.0 however I noticed that when following instructions as per the below image, OCC only shows an option for 0.6.1 for the profile. Is this an issue? I am using the latest OCC.

I have created the USB and followed all instructions, with the only deviation being the 4 SSDT's required for my AORUS Xtreme MB (As per the Z390 AORUS Xtreme Owners Micro Guide) These replaced the 4 SSDT's that come with your zip file. Now to test 0.6.0 to see if my Aquantia AQtion port is back.

We can also use ProperTree by CorpNewt or PlistPro or BBedit to edit config.plist. Just need to navigate to the PlatformInfo section and copy serial numbers. Hackintool's front page will present all 3 items:
  • System Serial
  • System UUID
  • Board Serial

Hi Casey,

That worked. Booted up using the OC 0.6.0 USB Thumb Drive and now my Aquantia AQtion port is back and working. The issue is with either OC 0.6.1 or possibly something has changed with the below kext change / update. Although im not certain that kext has anything to do with my Aquantia port.
  • OpenCore 0.6.1 --> IntelMausiEthernet.kext replaced with IntelMausi.kext
Another small issue is 0.6.1 I found was that 90% of the time my login screen where you enter your password, its the wrong resolution and shows very large, this was an issue in the early days of Clover but seemed to have sorted itself out with Clover Updates. When I moved over to OC 0.6.0, the log in screen resolution was perfect and matched that of the set resolution in Catalina, however in 0.6.1 it was only correct on about 10% of the log ins. Now I've booted up using 0.6.0 again, it seems to be fine.

Do you think it is possible that the IntelMausi.kext could be preventing my Aquantia port from working? If so, is it possible for me to change this back to the IntelMausiEthernet.kext under OC 0.6.1?

That is odd. IntelMausi drives the Intel i219 gigabit Ethernet port. The Aquantia is driven by a completely different built-in driver. You could disable the IntelMausi driver in config.plist just to rule it out.

It is possible that a kernel quirk in OC 0.6.1 might be causing the problem. This may be something to report to the OpenCore team. But always preferable to search Google to check if this has been reported already. Then it would be good to post the issue on InsanelyMac.

Hi Casey,

Tried disabling the IntelMausi.kext and still the same issue, obviously with this disabled I had no i219 port either. I then tried replacing that with the old IntelMausiEthernet.kext and exactly the same outcome. I can now confirm that it is not the IntelMausi.kext causing the issue. It must be something else within OC 0.6.1. I will revert back to 0.6.0 until such time another update comes out for OC. Perhaps 0.6.2 will fix both my issues (Aquantia AQtion Ethernet Port & Login Screen resolution) I have been unable to find anyone with a similar issue to my Aquantia Ethernet Port and I will keep googling in regards to my LogIn screen resolution.

EDIT: Reverting back to OC 0.6.0 gives me the warning OCS: No schema for DisableLinkeditJettison at 2 Index, context <Quirks>!
I am using OCC 2.12.1.0 and downloaded the OC-0.6.0-DESIGNARE-Z390.zip from this guide.

I have not copied across the (USB Thumb Drive) EFI folder of OC 0.6.0 to my main MasOS EFI as yet and think ill leave things as they are for now.
As this is now getting messy and a little outside of my comfort zone, I think I will stay with 0.6.1 and just use the only working Ethernet Port (Intel GbE i219v) and hope that the next update fixes the Aquantia issue. Also my LogIn resolution. I think I might just be creating bigger issues by going backwards and forwards with 0C & OCC versions.

Regarding the display issue, check this in OC 0.6.1:
Config-> NVRAM -> Add -> 4D1EDE05-38C7-4A6A-9CC6-4BCCA8B38C14<
UIScale<01 (Standard resolution) --or-- 02 (HiDPI)

Thank you :)
Ill give this a try

EDIT: so just try changing my 01 to 02?

The OCS Schema Warning is easy to fix: edit config.plist and remove DisableLinkeditJettison, which is a 0.6.1 attribute. To go back to a previous version, we simply use the config.plist files in the 0.6.0 EFI (or earlier) folder and edit them manually with ProperTree.

Hi @CaseySJ

I saw that a new USBInkjetall 0.76 was posted on the Z490, it would be the case to also update the Z390 Designare, replace the file in O.C 0.61.

Thank you,

Hello @Rag,

USBInjectAll 0.7.6 is only needed if using SMBIOS iMac20,1 or iMac20,2.
