@Midphase,

I agree wholeheartedly even though I spend a fair bit of time in Windows (office work). The Mac environment is not only more polished, but:
  • Apple removes legacy bits and pieces to keep the OS coherent. Windows still has the old Control Panel, for example, and the new one. Legacy bits and pieces are still scattered throughout Windows mostly because the corporate world (IT departments) demands status-quo. They don't like change because of the disruption it causes. Apple, however, forces people to change, which I absolutely admire!
  • macOS is so well integrated with iOS, AppleTV, and Apple Watch ecosystems. I just purchased something on Safari while paying with my Apple Watch. And instead of using my Epson Printer/Scanner to scan documents, I use Continuity Camera to scan documents directly into macOS from my iPhone. Handoff, AirDrop, Continuity Camera, Sidecar, and even iCloud are seamlessly baked into macOS. Almost nothing in macOS seems like a Frankenstein after-thought.
  • I prefer an operating system that stays modern and is willing to jettison the past. Witness the total elimination of 32-bit apps on Catalina. Yes it can affect users, but it forces the entire industry to move forward or stagnate.

Don't forget about MacOs not getting viruses and better security. Those were the reason for my move originally, I stayed because of the above but I moved for security. Also the messaging app, facetime, and audio calls from your computer via your phone also.

There are macOS virus' out there in the wild, so yes you can still get virus' on Macs/Hacks. The first virus to replicate in the wild, i.e outside the lab, was also aimed at Apple computers. see here.

wow in 1982 38 years ago, we are talking modern OS here, today yes there are malware and such but viruses not really. I am not going to pretend I know ratios but Windows has lots more and Microsoft expects you to get a third-party app to deal with it. I would not be surprised if Microsoft has a deal with the virus software companies to allow virus so they can exist and be profitable. Apple on the other hand will patch the problem out ASAP so the bulk of their users will never see it.

Thank goodness!
My Ryzentosh has been up and running for over 2 months now (Asus ROG Strix x570-E, Ryzen 3950x and a Vega 64). Adobe apps (photoshop and lightroom) works just fine as well.

If you're running Catalina, does sleep/wake work?

Sleep/Wake doesn't seem to be working, Also, I haven't tried the bluetooth but I think you need an external or add-on one for that. I don't use sleep/wake anyway ;)

There is a x570-i Build on amd os x with usb mapping with functional sleep ;)

I’m waiting for my formD T1 and I wonder if I shouldn’t take this motherboard again...
i have some issues with the b550-i like the Ethernet (it doesn’t work)

Big Sur has magically fixed sleep/wake on both my X570 Creator and X570 Taichi.

Indeed ! Cata-lina is an awful OS, i didn’t install it on my real Mac and my hack but I already install Big Sur On my MBP and my hack, all is working flawlessly :p

I've ordered a Gigabyte B550 Vision D, which has two on-board Titan Ridge Thunderbolt 3 ports. Eager to see how far we can push a Ryzen system. Previous experience with ASRock X570 Creator and X570 Taichi has not been as successful as I had hoped, primarily in the area of Thunderbolt hot-plug and Thunderbolt Bus. However, sleep/wake does work at last with Big Sur. I may jump directly to Big Sur on the B550.

USB and Thunderbolt is a fascinating area when talking AMD Ryzen and the chipsets, and how it is implemented.

In theory Thunderbolt is a joint development effort by many companies so I guess they can all use the technology. For USB there are set standards no-one owns but are agreed and developed in a similar way.

BUT Thunderbolt doesn't seem to be separated from Intel - yet. Have I missed a step here? Are there third-party TB3 chipsets like there are USB3 (ASMedia, NEC, Renesas, Fresco Logic etc.) ??

:)
