Hey all, I've successfully installed Catalina in UEFI mode. The system boots fine with USB in- and all devices work as expected (sound, graphics, network, etc). I ran multibeast quick build as I didn't need any additional drivers. I've tried mounting the EFI partitions (clover configurator) of the hard drive and USB and copied the contents of the EFI folder on the USB to the EFI folder on the SSD as suggested in several forum threads. Yet, every time I reboot- it says no bootable drive available. Put the USB back in- clover pops right up. I'd simply use it this way- but I'd really rather figure it out and regain my 32gb USB for other purposes.

Also, for longevity of the device- is there a newer system definition that will work for this build other than the stock 14,1 iMac (2013)? Since that is on the chopping block of receiving Apple's updates (from what I see it won't run Big Sur)... If so, can I simply modify that value somehow or does it require a reinstall? The system is new and unused so I don't mind redoing if necessary/easier.

Additionally- I don't see any way to modify the EFI boot settings in the BIOS of Mobo other than choosing which drive as #1. There are entries there (MacOSX, Debian, etc) but I can't seem to delete old or unused entries or change preference/order..?

Edit: I can get into the EFI filesystem if I use the clover shell entry. However, I must admit I'm not sure what needs to be modified on this level to get the system to boot correctly. (See screenshot- this is with ONLY the SSD plugged in)

Any ideas or thoughts are appreciated. Thanks in advance.

System is:
ASROK Z77Pro4 mobo
Samsung 850 evo SSD (256)
AMD RX580
16gb Intel DDR3
Intel i5-3570k CPU

Take a look at later system definitions available in Clover Configurator (after you get your machine running properly) and try to find ones that might be similar to your current hardware (look at processor generation for example), see how well it runs with different models and how recent you can use successfully. Also, search the forums for posts regarding hardware similar to yours and see what other people are using.

This is not unusual as most UEFI firmware can only adjust priority. Carefully read the procedures for managing/modifying the boot options list here and here and here as these posts are relevant even if not running multiple operating systems.

Thank you for the links. I was successfully able to modify the EFI boot map and remove all the erroneous and unused entries. I also was able to add the correct entry for Clover and the system was able to boot from it after I set it as first priority in the BIOS.

Do you have any resources in reference to modifying the system definition?

Edit: I was able to modify the system definition following the process here
