Gigabyte Z490 Vision D (Thunderbolt 3) + i5-10400 + AMD RX 580

Just tried to enable both of those in my OpenCore 0.6.0, on my SSD backup drive. The computer went to sleep fine, it stayed asleep fine, and it woke up once I pushed the power button...

But when it shows the login screen my keyboard and mouse didn't work anymore. I tried to unplug them and plug them back in while at the login screen, but the monitor went black like it wasn't getting any signal. So I pushed and held the power button to shut off my system.

On restart, it wouldn't let me use the keyboard or mouse again to enter bios and when it tried booting up Catalina, I got an error message saying something about the system was already running. (or something like that, forgot to take a photo)

I ended up just powering down completely and turned the PSU off and on. Now I'm back in my main Catalina install.

Note: I did this separately of trying the fix the spoiler pointed to.
I see... Perhaps the surest solution is to (1) simply unplug the Corsair PSU’s USB cable or (2) modify the USB SSDT to disable the on-board USB header.

Sorry @tdcam, I don’t understand the sentence. Can you explain exactly what you want to do?

I have a nvme from your previous designare build with data and I wanted to migrate it to the new build and have both in the z490. Once I installed 10.15.6 with open core on a separate disk it allowed me to migrate the data to the new disk with 10.15.6 so I’m good . I was wondering if I could use the installer to update the OS on the old nvme build but it looks like the transfer option is working fine . I have a time machine disk but like to have redundancy ! Thanks works great !

Just to make sure, does the Vision G Board works as flawlessly as the Vision D Board?

I can’t speak to the Vision D but my Vision G board has been fantastic. Sleeps like a baby, speeds are normal per benchmark averages, no graphics issues, all my apps work. Very happy with the build. 4 of the USB ports on the back are on a hub too so I have more USB than I know what to do with :)

I think again there is something with my sleep mode, if I select manually it will go no problem, but if by default I leave it for 10 minutes it will do it sometimes but somtimes it will just be on for hours and I still can`t identify what is causing this. I think it is identical behavior on Vision G and now Vision D. It is hard for me to catch the reason because I was changing all settings non stop and now finally I thought I settled and auto sleep worked through the day and now again is just not sleeping...

Idle sleep preventers: IODisplayWrangler

I have that fenvi 1200, is that is making this, i can buy that other youba or whatever is the name or it is something else preventing my system sometimes to sleep. I tried even with darkwake=0 or 2 and sometimes it works perfectly ..

Ahhh! Well, that's good there's another way then. Although it would have been much easier if the other way worked for me.

Unfortunately I have no idea how to correctly modify a USB SSDT, so may have to just put up with it for now until I can learn.

Please do this:
  • Run IORegistryExplorer and scroll the device tree on left side (do not use the 'search' bar) until you get to XHC.
  • All USB ports (HS01, HS02, ..., SS01, SS02, ...) will be listed here.
  • Expand HS11, HS12
  • Capture and post a screenshot

UPDATE: This may not be a good idea after all because both of the USB 2.0 headers on Vision D are managed by the single hub at HS11. If we disable HS11 we will lose both USB 2.0 headers, hence Bluetooth will not work.

Rhetorical question: Who really needs to monitor a power supply? :)

Because the system sleeps when sleep is manually triggered, it means the Fenvi FV-1200HB is okay.

If the system does not enter sleep automatically, please try increasing the sleep duration from 10 minutes to 30 minutes.

Are you using Bluetooth keyboard and/or mouse? If so, what make/model?

I'm proud to say I followed all the steps now and I was able to dual boot windows following Casey's procedure.
Now I'm having two new questions:
1) Is it possible to install bootcamp drivers (so I can reboote into windows and vice versa without going through opencore, and also so I don't have to constantly reconnect my magic mouse and so I have full compatibility with my apple keyboard?
2) I'm having a problem in OSX: Apple keyboard works great, but f3 and f4 keys aren't working. They do work if I use the special functions using the fn key (I have it disabled because I use f1,f2,f3,f4 a lot and I preffer using special functions with fn key), but the regular f3 and f4 aren't working. Every other key works great. In fact I tried it in a website that checks keyboard input and f3 and f4 are the only keys not working.... any help with that?
Thanks for all the help I've received in this forum! You all guys rock!

I know Bootcamp is not recommended for install on Windows but I am using it on three of my hacks with no problem. My magic mouse and keyboard are fully functional on one and my Magic Trackpad 2 works perfectly on another. And I can of course reboot into either OS without going through the picker. Just like a real MAC.

On Designare Z390 with the same bug and same sysdef (iMac19,1) there's no issue monitoring all fan speeds. On Z490 Vision D we also have no issue monitoring all fan speeds.
Casey,
I'm on the Z490 with your install and I've tried TG Pro and iStat. TG Pro shows all CPU temperatures, Die, Heatsink, and proximity temperatures and fan speeds for the 3 fans headers. It doesn't show the two extra temperature sensors that came with the motherboard that I installed (as far as I can tell). The Hackintosh preference is checked.

For iStat it only show temperatures for 4 Cores and Proximity. As for Fan, it shows a single Fan reading RPM (don't know if that is an average or not).

Both can show disk temperatures. Is this what is expected?

Yes, that is normal. If we install Intel Power Gadget, then iStat should show additional information. The two temperature probes are still not supported, but I hope an upcoming version of VirtualSMC and/or HWMonitorSMC will remedy that.
