[GUIDE] Catalina on HP EliteDesk 800 G4/G5 Mini - The Perfect MacMini8,1 Hackintosh - CLOVER & OC

I was successful installing Mojave 10.14.6 using your EFI folder and guide. Thanks a mil! Truly perfect Hack Mini :)

Mojave, eh? That's great! Catalina works perfectly, too.

I just experienced my first issue after a long period of error-free operation. After extended sleep, my system woke with displays swapped. I have opened a new thread for this here. This is minor and since I've never seen this before, it's a low priority issue, but one I'd like to solve.

Hi, been a long time working with my HP 800 G2 l7-6700 3.4Ghz. I got a great deal of tips from your installation. I gave up on my HP 800 G4 unfortunately struggling with sleep.

My question is if you have tested WIFI cards in your build (if I have not overlooked something in this thread). I am struggling with both the G2 and former G4 to accept any Broadcom card that is compatible with OS X. Have a look at my thread here if you have any input!

Just be patient and carefully read the posts in this thread, starting with Post #1. You will find multiple references to Wi-Fi. With the exception of my most recent "displays swapped after waking from extended sleep," sleep wake is working perfectly on the EliteDesk 800 G4 Mini.

Hi deeveedee, I've been a fan of this thread for a while and have been watching it closely. I was wondering if you've considered a eGPU for your G4 mini?. It might be possible on your system, though you'd need to rethink your wifi. Check out my eGPU on my mini, let me know what you think

Nice! The HP EliteDesk Minis have an internal RX560 option. I just purchased another used EliteDesk G4 Mini with an i7-8700 (higher performance / power dissipation than the i7-8700T in my original build) for $419 (great deal, considering it came with 512GB M.2. 2280 SSD and one 16GB DDR4 module. I may consider trying the internal RX560 board in this higher-power unit if I can find a reasonable price).

How is your G4 powered, is it external brick?. That is a good deal tbh!, I'm going to look into that RX560 option for the G4 mini, it will be useful for a future 2006 iMac mod. I also tried an RX 570 but it crashed under benching!, the 560 is really happy, about to try Dirt 4 on macOS.

Just checked prices on a G4 elite desk mini, you did get a really good deal!. The other chipset manufacturers G4 are really cheap.

External 90W brick. I haven't researched the internal RX560, so I'm not sure if I need to obtain a higher wattage brick to power the RX560. My "new" G4 Mini that I purchase has a vented cover (the cover on my 35W i7-8700T unit is sealed). I suspect the vented cover is required for the internal RX560.

I did get a great deal - and the HP factory warranty is still good for 25 months. These HP EliteDesk G4 Minis are awesome.

EDIT: @craighazan I quickly researched the RX560 option for the EliteDesk 800 G4 Mini. Documentation is sparse, but it appears that the RX560X option is only supported in the G4 Mini when a 35W CPU (e.g. i7-8700T) is used. I'm sure this is a limitation due to cooling and power supply.

HP released a BIOS update (02.12.00 Rev.A). I have completed this update and have confirmed that it works fine with the EFI attached to Post #1. Not surprisingly, I have also confirmed that the same EFI works equally well with the i7-8700T (35W) and i7-8700 (65W) CPUs.
