Gigabyte Z490 Vision D (Thunderbolt 3) + i5-10400 + AMD RX 580

@CaseySJ got a weird issue when restarting Macos. I have 3 NVMEs; 2 Samsung Evo + on the first 2 slots on the MB (1TB with Macos, 250GB with Windows 10) + 1 WD 1TB (only data) installed on a PCIe x4 adaptor card in the PCIE x4 slot on the MB.
If I select "restart" from Macos, the system shuts down then restarts but it is stuck on the Gigabyte logo. It won't do anything. I have to press the power button to shut the system down, then the power button gain the restart and then the system boots as usual.
However if I boot windows 10, then restart from windows 10, system shuts down and restarts with no issue. It does not hang on the gigabyte logo.
Any idea?

@CaseySJ also a couple of posts back, you mentioned that you have successfully managed to connect/pair a magic keyboard in windows 10 using the onboard BT and in macos using the fenvi card (I have the genuine apple combo BT/wifi card but it should be the same situation).
When you switch between the 2 OSes, does the keyboard reconnect automatically? or do you need to switch it off and on so that it can reconnect?
I have paired and connected my magic keyboard and magic mouse with windows 10 via the onboard BT and it is fine. Both are working well. Then when I reboot into macos, the keyboard does not reconnect automatically to the apple combo card. I need to switch off then on the keyboard and it will then reconnect. Same issue with the magic mouse. is it the same situation for you?

Hello fellow Mac users! I just built my first Hackinosh this week and it has been running beautifully. The only problem is I haven’t been able to get sleep to work properly. When I set the cpu to sleep the display goes to sleep, but the fans and motherboard RGB stay on. I’d appreciate any recommendations on what I should try changing?
My situation isn't exactly like yours, but maybe what I've observed will help. I am also a novice and this is my first build and Hackintosh as well, and like you, it has worked extremely well!

I had sleep set to 10 minutes. Prevent computer from sleeping automatically when display is off is not checked. Wake for network access is not checked (if checked I think it would never go to sleep but I need to test that more). I have this YOUBO Bluetooth/Network card from Amazon https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B082X8MBMD/?tag=tonymacx86com-20
which when I opened the box is a Fenvi card, but it doesn't look like the picture of the Fenvi T-919 card on amazon so not sure what the difference is.

What I noticed was that after 10 minutes the display and computer would in fact go to sleep but immediately wake again (not the same situation as you). This continued to happen at night but in the morning when I woke up the computer and display were asleep. Others had reported problems with the bluetooth cards causing sleep/wake problems so I tried some tests.

1. I turned the keyboard off. After 10 minutes the same thing happened, the display and computer would sleep then immediately turn back on.
2. I turned the mouse off. After 10 minutes the display and computer went to sleep and didn't wake up. I'm using an Apple wireless keyboard and an Apple wireless mouse.

I thought that maybe when the computer went to sleep that the mouse was not being told to sleep and it would rewake the computer, but the mouse would eventually go to sleep itself and that was why I would find the computer asleep in the morning.

I wasn't sure how long it would take the mouse to sleep on its on, so I tried increasing the sleep time to 30 minutes. Now when the display and computer go to sleep, they stay asleep.

This is only speculation, but I suspect that the mouse is not being told to go to sleep (for whatever reason) and it stays awake for some period of time before it itself goes to sleep (as long as it is not touched). Being awake the mouse causes the computer to immediately wake from sleep until the mouse goes to sleep.

I followed Casey's instructions to the letter and have not made any modifications that were not specified in his instructions. I'm using an Intel i9-10900k CPU, a Sapphire RX 5700 XT video card, two NVM's for disk, two hard drives for backups, 64GB memory. If you want more detail, just let me know.

Don't know that any of this will help, but hope you find a solution.

Thanks!

I have BCM943602CS BT/Wifi card, and have the same problem like yours.
After sleeping, the motherboard wake up immediately, but display(iGPU) wait a while to wake.

When USB header of BCM943602CS unplugged, computer can go sleep without waking.
So I guess BCM943602CS is the most likely cause of the problem.
I bought BCM94360CD just now, will try after receiving.

For now, I think shutdown is OK for me, since it's fast to boot (about 14 seconds since power on to OC, 16 seconds from OC to login-page).

My h..mac sleep then motherboard wake immediately(but no iGPU output, monitor does not wake).
maybe it's related the 943602CS card.
Yes it's very possible. We're seeing too many sleep, wake, boot issues with these cards. I would recommend switching to the YOUBO.

I have tried also on latest Catalina without luck and also on Windows 10 is same - the TB3 no work:) I have heard that TB3 from Gigabyte site in not enough and needs to be installed Microsoft "Thunderbolt Control center"
So, previously it was necessary that thunderbolt first properly under run under Windows and on the same PC, but what now? Did you install first TB3 driver on Windows?

and as I mentioned in the previous post TB3 connection between mainboard and monitor work just fine via cable TB3 type c to DP:)
Some questions/comments:
  • Have you tried connecting other Thunderbolt 3 devices? Do they work?
  • In BIOS, please confirm that Thunderbolt Security is set to No Security.
  • In BIOS, please confirm that Thunderbolt Boot Support is set to Boot Once (this is recommended for UAD owners).

  • Also ensure that latest UAD drivers are installed for macOS.
  • Also ensure that latest firmware is installed on the UAD device itself.

Couple of quick suggestions:
  • Do you have a Fenvi FV-T919 or FV-HB1200 WiFi/BT card? If so, please try removing the card and testing this Restart issue again.
  • Also try a CMOS Reset. This will require BIOS to be reconfigured afterwards.

Quick question: If you explicitly put the system to sleep from the Apple menu, does it go to sleep and stay sleep? When it first enters sleep, it may wake up within 30 seconds, remain on for about 60 seconds, but then go to sleep and stay asleep. Do you experience this behavior?
