Gigabyte Z490 Vision D (Thunderbolt 3) + i5-10400 + AMD RX 580

  • Which thermal paste are you using?
  • How much of it was applied?
Also check your cpu voltage. If you’re over-volted, temps rise.

The fans are attached using zip ties. That way it is totally reversible if I decide to sell the card when Big Navi gets released.View attachment 485125

Are you running the fans off of the card header or a motherboard header?

cheers!

Thanks for the great help, finally:

Edit: 943602CS seems issue with sleep/wake. (boot up immediately after sleeping).

But I cannot get 60Hz using iGPU with HDMI (I haven't bought an AMD GPU yet).
I don't know how to fix this or is it impossible to get 60Hz with iGPU?

You could set the picker time to 0, so that your input is required before any OS is booted? I use the Magic Keyboard and Trackpad too, and with a little bit of fiddling i’ve managed to keep both devices paired across both OS, Windows using the onboard Intel, and Catalina using the Fenvi. Works in BIOS etc too.
I thought from what I read that with the magic keyboard, it did not support multiple pairing. hence if you pair it with macos, then pair it with windows, when you back in macos you have to repair it. It will not reconnect. My timer value is 3s to give me enough time to pick another OS butI could not because by the time it was paired the timer had timed out. However I figured it out; the reason was that the combo bt/wifi card is connected to an internal NZXT hub because I am short of usb headers. If I connect that card directly on the MB, then the keyboard is reconnected as soon as I power up the system.
I'll try your solution for the startup disk

Finally at the point of installing on my new computer and ran into this error trying to create the install USB:

When running this terminal code:
Code:
sudo "/Applications/Install macOS Catalina.app/Contents/Resources/createinstallmedia" --volume /Volumes/Catalina-USB

It generates this error:
Code:
dyld: Library not loaded: @executable_path/../Frameworks/IAESD.framework/Versions/A/IAESD
  Referenced from: /Applications/Install macOS Catalina.app/Contents/Resources/createinstallmedia
Reason: no suitable image found. Did find:
    /Applications/Install macOS Catalina.app/Contents/Resources/../Frameworks/IAESD.framework/Versions/A/IAESD: mmap() error 1 at address=0x10BCE4000, size=0x00006000 segment=__TEXT in Segment::map() mapping /Applications/Install macOS Catalina.app/Contents/Resources/../Frameworks/IAESD.framework/Versions/A/IAESD

Unsure of what to do.
I've looked up the error and can't fix it. I have redownloaded from gibmacos multiple times, and tried selecting a different download option as well.

I am trying to create the USB install media on my previous hackintosh running Yosemite 10.10.5.

The gibMacOS commands completed successfully.
I downloaded the #1 option:
Code:
1. macOS Catalina 10.15.6 (19G2021)
   - 001-36801 - Added 2020-08-12 20:04:02

I did notice my disk utility doesn't have the same options as what was listed in the directions, but I believe it partitioned the Catalina-USB drive correctly, as MacOS Extended Journaled and it seems the partition is GUID.

Hi all,

I hope this right place to ask.

I have seen that the Comet Lake and Gigabyte Vision D will run Mojave (XDS Computers) using Open Core.
Has anyone done this? As I am keen to learn and build my own Hackintosh based around the following:

Either i7 10700k or i9 10900
Z490 Vision D
RX580

any information or pointers to get this happening would be gratefully received

Thank you in ad

What some people do is install Mojave on an older system then transfer the SSD to the newer 10th gen Comet Lake system. Even then it's probably better to simply go with Catalina on a Vision D hackintosh. CaseySJ could go into detail of the reasons why.

Thank you for your response.
The main reason for me wanting to know about Mojave, is that I work with audio (Logic, Cubase & PT) and it’s a more stable OS for this.
When say older system, can this be ‘pre-built’ from another computer (Mac mini) and installed or from an older hack? Sorry I’m new to all of this and really want to understand this.

It's probably best to hear direct from CaseySJ his take on this. I've never owned the Designare Z390 or Vision D so I'm no authority on this matter.

Congratulations! The iGPU supports a maximum of 30Hz at 4K over HDMI because it still uses the older HDMI 1.4 spec. The two Thunderbolt ports (USB-C) support DisplayPort 1.2 that supports full 60Hz at 4K and above. To use those ports we can use either of these cables:
