Is it possible to enroll current install in Catalina, and then do the update from System Preferences > Software Update on top of existing Catalina install? I enrolled, and now Big Sur Public Beta shows up, but not sure if I should pull the trigger. Running on latest OC 0.6 with latest kexts.

If you are currently using Clover with Catalina, don't even think of updating directly. You will end up in a world of pain (and a broken system of course).

As of now, Big Sur can only be installed with OpenCore. If you are currently running on OpenCore, I believe it might work. But I wouldn't recommend it yet. Big Sur is in Beta and still has many bugs, as well as the fact that a lot of apps are still on compatible with it. If you really want to "taste" Big Sur, I would recommend installing it on a separate HDD/SSD.

Simple answer: Yes. That is what I did. BUT it is beta software and, as brainstormer said, there are and will be bugs. Only do this as I did on a separate, non-essential SSD/HDD. With the latest OC and kexts, it went smoothly for me. The download is very large and installation took about twice as long as prior upgrades (40 min. vs. 20 min.)
