[SUCCESS] Gigabyte Designare Z390 (Thunderbolt 3) + i7-9700K + AMD RX 580

Hi wow you guys are some serious rock stars!! Thank you for all your hard work!! Been reading the guide to flash tb port on z390 designare over and over and looking through the chats.

Do you need to flash before you use the web app to create the ssdt file or is creating the ssdt file enough?? Also not sure what number to use in web app for z390 designare.

Any help is greatly appreciated!
Thanks!

Hello @rizzopro

The HackinDROM website can be used before or after the firmware is flashed. Most of us use it after.

HackinDROM will generate a random Unique ID for you automatically so there’s no need to enter or change any values. Those three entry fields are used only if we wish to modify default values, which is not necessary in this case.

It is a digital output, the sound is outputted via DP or HDMI, and therefore cannot be volume controlled by the volume keys or volume slider, you have to use the volume control on the DP/HDMI device, ie monitor or TV.
No, the volume can be controled by volume key on the keyboard. I'm using a LG 4k monitor(27uk850) via DP cable. When I choose the monitor as auido source, even though the volume logo in the top bar is greyed out, I can directly change the monitor volume by volume key. And when I do that, the system volume logo and the monitor volume logo will appear in the same time.

Thanks! As it stands now i can plug a tb3 ethernet plug in. I get an ip address but no internet same with my fenvi wifi. The onboard port works though. Any clues?

Just got the uhd 630 working.

Thanks again!

Can you please clarify:
  • Has the on-board firmware been flashed?
  • Has a new DROM/SSDT been installed?
  • Does Thunderbolt Bus appear in System Information --> Thunderbolt?
  • What is the make/model of the Thunderbolt 3 to Ethernet adapter that you're using?
  • The Fenvi is a WiFi card, of course, so it should be unrelated to Thunderbolt. If WiFi is not connecting to the Internet, then it implies a more general problem. Are you sure the on-board Ethernet port can connect to the Internet right now?

@CaseySJ
I was excited to try the x1c6 firmware patch but have run into a few issues.

The firmware flashed just fine and I see IOThunderboltPort@5 in explorer
The thunderbolt bus also shows in System Info.

Hotplugging a CalDigit appears to connect ok, and monitor passthru etc works, however none of the TB USB or audio devices are working.

Specifically, on the CalDigit the Audio capabilities and USB connect to DSB1 on a real Mac, but do not connect using the updated firmware and SSDT.

Additionally, once the CalDigit is attached the TB info takes a long while to enumerate, then only shows the following.

BIOS Assist is turned off in the BIOS.

Any ideas?
Please try the following:
  • Cold boot the Lenovo X1 Carbon 6th Gen (X1C6)
  • Login to macOS
  • Then simply do a reboot
  • Do the CalDigit's USB and Audio devices work now?
If not, we may need to ping @contemporarygary...

Hello everyone, it's been some time! A very minor issue I noticed after upgrading to 10.15.6 supplemental update. This has occurred again after update. Audio is much lower than before. I noticed it both with headphones and my speakers Gigaworks T40ii. I tried inject 7 and inject 11 in Devices tab with clover configurator. Any suggestions?
