X299 Big Sur Support

Good news for ASUS x299 : No more need for SSDT-AWAC.aml with this Bios ( 3203 ) to Boot Big Sur or Catalina. You will however need the quirk AppleXcpmExtraMsrs to be set to "Yes" in your config.plist as MSR 0x1AA is still locked.

So basically the new set of BIOSes for ASUS boards are still MSR Locked and should need a bios flash/OC Quirk? That's true for all boards?

Do you mean RTC regions have been mapped correctly so there's a proper RTC device macOS can see? newest boards have AWAC and they used to need a fake RTC anyway :problem:

Can someone post a clear indication of the actual situation? Thanks everyone.

Any Gigabyte X299 users here that can share their OC EFI for Big Sur? Thanks!
There you go. As usual, Platform Info needs to be filled. Have a play :)

PS: If you want to be in verbose mode : Just press CMD +V ( or Win + V ) while in picker before your boot selection.

BIOSes for Gigabyte boards are also MSR Locked but we can but with OC without modified Bios :

Code:
       <key>Quirks</key>
        <dict>
            <key>AppleCpuPmCfgLock</key>
            <true/>
            <key>AppleXcpmCfgLock</key>
            <true/>

So you can manage that for ASUS board too.

From what I read they are not MSR Locked (CFG ), so you won't have to patch the Bios. But some part of the MSR is still locked ( MSR 0x1AA ) linked to the XCPM/ Power management. Therefore you'll need the quirk in your config.plist

Ok, understood the MSR part, thanks!

Now, do we still need RTC0.aml for Big Sur given the fact that boards with RTC (older ones) got it not completely mapped and for newer ones (AWAC) to revert to RTC? Briefly, the RTC/AWAC.aml situation is modified with this new bioses or things work like previous bioses?

@izo1! Are you still willing to a) Apple Logo up my new patched BIOS (attached) b) share the image and link me to a guide (if it's not @kgp's)?

Thank you in advance!

I'll post how to do it with a simple application, but it requires Windows...and will also post the .bmp I custom made (with many trials and errors to fit it in center) :)

Took the time and read through the Dortania guide. Between converting from my working Clover EFI and a 0.6.0 example EFI that I grabbed here, I can't get OC too boot! I checked w the Sanity Checker and everything. Can someone please advise - I'm sure it's something silly that I am just not yet familiar with in OC. I attached my EFI (took out serial and such). Huge please and thank you!

I should mentioned I am still on BIOS 2002. I want to confirm booting with OC before I update so that I don't get stuck. I am testing this with a clone drive first.

A stupid question probably. Is it currently possible update to big sur from catalina?

Important Note :
In the next few days I will add :
Support : SSDTs and EFI files for :
- Gigabyte X299
- Asrock X299
- EVGA X299
Also all the ASUS support from @djlild7hina

I'll keep you informed , I'm actually working on it now.

Hi - I'm in the process of converting my 7900x/X299 PrimeDeluxe to OC. I've lost TB3 hot plug even though I have an ssdt for it. I built my OC from scratch as I wanted to learn it properly.

I have a system up and running but hoping to take a peek at the X299 Deluxe OC 0.6.0 EFI to see if I'm missing something that is messing with my TB3 hot plug. Let me know how I might be able to find this as the git is now empty.

Thank you!
