[SUCCESS] Gigabyte Designare Z390 (Thunderbolt 3) + i7-9700K + AMD RX 580

How did you guys hook up to the pins of the low cost clip? I thought I could use dupont wires, but the pins on the clip are too closely spaced. It didn't come with a ribbon connector. I ordered this as a backup option to try out.

I can either just use the connector and the board it comes with to hook my dupont wires into, or just try to use the programmer instead of the raspberry pi.
I used the items in the first 2 photos of this post. The low-cost clip attaches to the blue circuit board on one side, and the breadboard wires attach to the same blue circuit board on the opposite side.

@CaseySJ Everything is working fine except for the wifi. Can't seem to get it to turn on. I have the Fenvi HB1200 card you suggested. I know it worked on my other build but it won't work in 10.15.6... i suspect it works in 10.15.5... Anything you suggest me looking into?
  • Are you using a Samsung 970 EVO Plus SSD?
  • Also try moving the Fenvi FV-HB1200 to a different slot. Remember to shutdown the computer and flip power switch on PSU to OFF when adding or removing devices on the motherboard.

Hello @telicha,

Some questions:
  • At what point does it crash when installing 10.15.6?
    • During the initial boot?
    • During one of the subsequent reboots?
  • Have you tried adding the -v flag to Boot Arguments in order to see the detailed boot log?
Sorry for the delay ... I went on a side journey, installed Linux on the system, and realized there was a hardware problem after the system would reboot spontaneously when I tried to run memtest. I will report back when the system is back, I sent to a local shop that is quite good at hardware diagnostics.

I had ordered this guy, which was in the post with instructions that used the raspberry pi, but you can't do much with it unless you have a ribbon connector.

Hopefully I can piece together what I need tomorrow.

Thank you for all your help

Anyone ever have an issue signing into iCloud and getting "Verification Failed" after entering the 2 factor verification code? I followed all the Dortania steps for fixing iServices and still nothing. Wondering if I need to maybe install a fresh macOS...

Holy crap, this works flawlessly with Thunderbolt hot plugging.
We can add UAD Apollo Twin X DUO to the list :)
Glad to hear it! Twin X DUO added to Thunderbolt 3 Experiences.

So I am still running Catalina, 10.15.1 on this build, I know 10.5.6 is out and I am pretty far behind, but the last time I UPDATED 10.15 > 10.15.1, I had to completely wipe my drive and start from scratch.

Any advice on how to get to the latest build without destroying the hack?
