Hey! I have a Thunderbolt question for the X299 folks. Using the KGP guide with a GC Titan Ridge, I have full hot swap with my UAD Apollo and things run smoothly.
I don't, however, have the Thunderbolt Bus showing up because I never flashed my firmware. Would I stand to benefit from flashing?
I read something on the CaseySJ thread that it would potentially increase my ability to run at lower latencies and who knows what else. But that's also targeted at Z390 and also folks who had trouble running the devices in the first place.

I would love any insight into this!

Thank you in advance.

As you read on CaseySJ thread now with the new Z490 but also on the original thread Z390, the benefit from flashing are :
- Full AppleThunderboltHAL tree
- Compatibility on a Thunderbolt connected device as on a real Mac
- Networking over Thunderbolt
- Etc..

The procedures are linked here on post #3

Let me some time : I have EVGA X299 FTWK -Eatx ( not exactly the same as yours) : I'm still with Mojave on it : these last days i have focused my attention on Asus and Gigabyte, so now i'm successful i will go to the EVGA

Let me know what you find out, I actually have a FTWK sitting in a box that I used for 2 months before upgrading to the Dark.
One thing that I notice in the EVGA BIOS there is no XHCI/EHCI handoff option. I personally have to boot my setup using npci=0x2000.
Have considered talking to EVGA about seeing if they could add that option in the BIOS.

@egroys also the procedure is quite easy and easily reversible. However if none of those features are important to you then I would leave it as is.

CaseySJ has a great write up under the "Thunderbolt Bus Activation" section in his Z490 thread

You can either use a CH341A programmer or a Raspberry pi.

I ended up using this and it worked but YMMV since there are programmers that dont supply the 3.3V without soldering.

Looks like CaseySJ just added info on a new 3.3v programmer

The flashing method isn't perfect and it also messes with thunderbolt on Windows (Have to warm boot into windows from macOS). Also not all devices work off cold boot and require a restart for them to be recognized.
NVM50 seems to be the newest for Titan Ridge but there seems to be an issue where the USB bridge isn't loaded without a device plugged in. I believe NVM23/33 are the most stable but YMMV.

Aloha all. I posted this inquiry on another thread but wanted to also ask for assistance here as I well. I will be using the x299sage/10g with an i9-10980xe cpu on my next build. I noticed on the ASUS site that the current bios release for this cpu is version 2002, yet I have seen users here with the sage/10g with a patched 3101 bios. May I first ask where are these other bios from and second, which one should I use. I apologize for the noob question.

You can find bios 3101 here

Bios 3101 has better performance with the 10000 series chips but asus messed up the cfg lock functionality. This should be fixed in the upcoming bios (Cascade lake x refresh boards already have it)

Refer to this post if you want to patch 3101

djlild7hina, your git is empty :( Where I can find a patched bios 3101 with a apple logo? For Sage/10g of course... Thanks!

Mentioned in this post that it will no longer be updated/removed. I gave the all the info @Loloflatsix to manage going forward.

But here is the patched bios
