[SUCCESS] Gigabyte Designare Z390 (Thunderbolt 3) + i7-9700K + AMD RX 580

Do you mean that we are to place the 4-pin jumper block onto 2-3 as a whole? Or just the two-pin onto 2-3 that is closest to the edge of the board?

The red markup box is covering what I normally perceive as a physical gap between two jumpers. Or is it a square 4-pin jumper that's being shown?

hi! thanks @yosoyoco, so that means, you are using the apollo with the alpine ridge but disabled hotplug in the SSDT?

i patched my alpine ridge with this rom: 3. GC-ALPINE-RIDGE-NVM21-V3-NATA.bin and
jumped pins 1 and 3 (not 3 and 5) instead of connecting to THB_C header.
( i didn't t try the other 2 mods from @Elias64Fr yet, see list below ) and i think! i created a SSDT via http://hackindrom.zapto.org/ (only changed the root adresses for my board z370 gigabyte).

what i get is: a kernel panic on first boot, which i a bit annoying) BUT all is working so far pretty well with my system ( apollo 8x tb3 -> quad satellite + internal uad quad ), incl. hotplug on second boot (warm boot). there is room for improvement - especially i'd like to get rid of the kernel panic and the need to boot 2 times but it's not too important atm.

Gigabyte GC-Alpine Ridge add-in-card 1. GC-ALPINE RIDGE-NVM20-V1-Elias64Fr.bin
2. GC-ALPINE RIDGE-NVM20-V2-Elias64Fr.bin
3. GC-ALPINE-RIDGE-NVM21-V3-NATA.bin
PCIe card
Some issues were reported with
V1 and V2. Try V3 by @NorthAmTransAm.
May need to jump pins 3 and 5 instead
of connecting to THB_C header.

I have Alpine Ridge working unflashed, just with ssdt. Some months behind, all OK and happy. Thx guys!

Hey, just wanted to chime in with the Big Sur experiences and some general status updates.

In other news, which might be somewhat useful to @CaseySJ, some time ago I upgraded the EFIclone script to a proper "Version 2", revamping the entire script to be more readable, standards compliant and to have some other good stuff like colored terminal output when run from the command line. I've been using it myself for a good amount of time now and have experienced zero issues, so it might be worth taking a look at. The script can be found here.
Great job on the new EFIClone_v2! Will update the bootable backup guides soon.

I decided to install Big Sur on (a) dedicated partition and (b) spare SSD instead of updating Catalina. This has been done on 3 of the 4 systems in my signature. On the Z490 Vision D, Safari keeps reloading most web pages and reporting this:
Screen Shot 2020-08-11 at 4.06.40 PM.png

Nearly 90% of the websites I visit encounter this problem. But Safari on the other two systems works just fine. Will wait for Public Beta #2.

I think Dark Mode is more seamlessly implemented in Big Sur than on Mojave and Catalina. Because Apple has redesigned the GUI in Big Sur, it makes sense that Dark Mode was designed-in from the beginning rather than tacked-on at the end.

There are several minor glitches here and there, such as the Notifications that pop up and provide various options within the notification. Those options are fickle and tend to disappear unless the mouse hovers in just the right spot. Anyway, I fully expect these glitches to be ironed out.

Overall, a very pleasant experience so far.

Cardinal Sin! Please do not quote the entire mini-guide. Now where's that  emoji?

Those are ordinary jumpers. Each is a 2-pin jumper.

@StefanAM nice! no kernel panics or 2x bootups needed? HP works? could you please post your ssdt and dsdt? thanks :)

@CaseySJ I reset NVRAM. I toggled the value to 0 by pressing 1. All I get now is the white apple logo. I have been able to get back into the OS using my install thumb drive.

Got it. Just one jumper, not both.
And sorry, I checked when I was replying (using "Reply") and it seemed "short". This quoting of the entire mini-guide seems to be a recurring issue on this website. It's completely inadvertent on our part: When one is replying, it's not at all apparent that the entire mini-guide is being quoted. Could it be that the reply layout on this website looks different to non-admin users? No one is doing it on purpose.

@jiffyslot @3rdPowerCitizen,

Please edit your previous post and remove the mini-guide. If everyone copied a mini-guide every time they had a question, can you imagine the amount of repetition/redundancy that would occur? This thread would become unseemly very quickly.

Guides and Mini-Guides are “reference” posts for everyone to “refer” to via links rather than duplication.

Warning: It may be necessary to reset NVRAM one time prior to booting macOS. This can be done by pressing spacebar at the OpenCore Picker and choosing Reset NVRAM. On multi-boot systems, select the default startup disk in System Preferences --> Startup Disk.

@CaseySJ What does this reset NVRAM process mean to my currently working Clover-based system? Will I have to redo anything if I simply wish to boot clover again?
