[SUCCESS] Gigabyte Designare Z390 (Thunderbolt 3) + i7-9700K + AMD RX 580

Is anyone else using UAD Meter & Control Panel app. If so, after you login to macOS, does the system take some time before becoming responsive?
No, never had a problem with UAD apps I’m using them all day every day

But in the past on my MBP when my session opened the UAD meter was unusable, had to force to quit and reopen it to use it
Or just close the app with “x” button and reopen it
But, if I click anywhere else, the app freezes and had to force to quit

It looks like a memory allocation or overrun error. The offending process name is:

BSD process name corresponding to current thread: plugin-container

Please try this if you don't know where this process comes from:
  • Launch Terminal and type: top
  • Look for plugin-container in the COMMAND column.
  • To the left of it is the Process ID or PID. If the PID is 1, it is owned by the kernel. But if PID is greater than 1, then look in the PPID or Parent Process ID column.
  • Grab the PPID number. Let's call this number X.
  • Now look for the number X in the PID column (column 1). What is the COMMAND associated with that number?

It was PID of 810, PPID of 807, which was Firefox.

Let's do this:
  1. Make a full bootable backup of Mojave.
  2. Then login to Mojave and delete all Hackintosh kexts from /Library/Extensions and then run Kext Utilityto rebuild the kernel cache.
    • This is explained fully in Steps 3, 4, 5 of this guide.
  3. Don't reboot!
  4. Now find a USB flash disk and follow the OpenCore 0.6.0 Guide provided here.
    • Once you have configured the EFI folder on the USB flash disk, reboot and press F12 at the BIOS splash screen to bring up the BIOS Boot Menu.
    • Select the USB flash disk. The OpenCore Picker GUI will appear.
    • Press spacebar to reveal additional options and choose CFGLock as shown in the bottom of the OpenCore 0.6.0 Guide.
    • Follow those instructions to unlock CFG-Lock (MSR 0xE2).
  5. When you're back at the OpenCore Picker GUI, select the Mojave SSD and see if it boots up.
Now see if the issues you mentioned back in February still occur.

Thanks @CaseySJ , Got opencore working successfully, but the issue still happens after 2-3 days. Got any other ideas before I just try to install Catalina and see what happens?

I may as well mention also, I did have the issue with ethernet not working, and referred to @oopsmybad post here. Since the earlier version of the Mausi driver has a different name than what the version included in your zip has, instead of just renaming the kext like I should have, I manually re-added it in opencore configurator, which caused issues until I realized that it needs to be placed before the SmallTree kext. Figured I may as well mention in case somebody else has the same issue and searches this thread for 'Mausi' looking for answers. :)

Seems like a Firefox extension or plug-in problem?

An extension maybe. I don't have any plugins except the built in Openh264.

Odd thing is that I have 128GB RAM as well as Firefox every time I check iStats Menu is never using more than a single digit number of RAM, as hungry as modern browsers are.

Last resource leak I had was a site infinitely trying to connect to something my adblocker was blocking, but that seemed to just eat CPU and RAM. Maybe next time it happens I will see if it is plugin-container again, and remove some of my tabs. as it might be a specific site triggering a bug.

No. It'll lag if an update was installed without the accompanying firmware update. It can be elusive if you have the updated UAD software but later use an interface that wasn't connected at the time of the software/firmware update. It's common when people purchase a secondary interface, especially used. Open the UAD Meter and click the system info button and make sure you're on the latest firmware. Also, check System Pref<Security.

I had the same problem after security update 004! I then used my backup and went back to the previous version.

Did a clean install of Mojave recently after months of smooth operation on my Designare only to find the same long delay. Removed UAD Meter & Control Panel app and it's back to a quick boot with no long lag with only the cursor moving but otherwise unresponsive system. Software and firmware up to date on an Apollo Twin Mk1.
