Simply follow the OpenCore 0.6.0 guide posted earlier today. MSR 0xE2 needs to be unlocked first; trivially easy procedure is mentioned at the bottom of the 0.6.0 guide.

** OFFICIAL: OpenCore 0.6.0 EFI for Z390 Designare **

OpenCore 0.6.0
OpenCore Configurator version 2.8.0.0 or later.

CaseySJ,

You mention using OpenCore Configurator v2.8.0.0, which is presently latest version. However, this version is for OC v059, not v060. Items are missing and this can lead to a corrupted config.plist file, which can be a pain to track down. Example: GlobalConnect is missing (see Spoiler).

Personally, I had OpenCore Configurator corrupt too many config.plist files, so I no longer trust it. Instead, I use PlistEdit Pro to edit OC config files.

When I go to update OC, I open, inside the OC Docs folder, "Changelog.md" and "Differences.pdf". Between these files, and while also viewing the Sample.plist file, I update my current config.plist file to make the latest changes.

I update OC to latest release version using Pavo's OC Builder (here).

Hi @CaseySJ , i have question about RadeonBoost and RX 5700 XT. RX 5700 XT + agdpmod=pikera works ok, but i want to achieve boost, as i did with RadeonBoost and my Radeon VII in second build.

  • With AMD RX 5700 XT, Catalina will not complete the boot up process if the SSDT is used.
  • If we only use the RadeonBoost driver (kext) and disable WhateverGreen (-wegoff) then system boots up.
  • For RX 5700-series GPUs, keep agdpmod=pikera in Boot Arguments.
  • SMBIOS = iMac19,1»

I have SMBIOS iMacPro 1,1, and i tried RX5700 XT + WEG + Radeon Boost 1.4 — no boot (hangs up at loading bar)

RX5700 XT + NO WEG + Radeon Boost 1.4 — no boot (hangs up at loading bar)

RX5700 XT + WEG + Radeon Boost 1.6 — boot, but no boost (as far as i understood, author dropped support for 5700 XT in 1.6 version).

Should i try SSDT + WEG + Radeon Boost 1.4?

OpenCore Configurator (OCC) is turning out to be a wonderful tool. There were growing pains in early versions, but those have been resolved. As mentioned in the OC 0.6.0 update post, in OCC Preferences there’s an option for OC 0.6.0. This adds GlobalConnect, run-EFI-updater, ProvideMaxSlide, etc.

OCC even fills out PlatformInfo. It also generates PCI paths for DeviceProperties. As if that weren’t enough, it even has an N-D-K mode!

Again, early versions had growing pains, but that should not influence our judgement of it today.

In my humble opinion, RadeonBoost is just an EgoBoost... ;)

It provides no real improvement in real-world tasks, but exaggerates synthetic benchmarks.

If someone has measured significant improvements in real-world applications (i.e. more than 1 or 2 or 3%) I would be interested to know.

@CaseySJ Hello again my dear friend.

I finally solved the problem of the Fenvi Card by buying a YouBo Wifi card that is perfectly working.
No more bootLoops finally !!
Still waiting for more instructions from Gigabyte to know what we could do to solve this problem.

Moreover, I would like to buy and setup a GPU cooler for my Sapphire Nitro+ 5700 XT 8GB.
Would you know if its compatible with MAC ?

Thank you, have a great day

From what I can see it should work fine. It will be necessary to clean the surface of the GPU and apply new thermal paste if the GPU block does not come with a thermal compound pre-applied. The Amazon description does not state whether it uses or requires a USB connection.

Nice. Is there any chipset difference between the Fenvi and the YouBo?

Regarding coolers, they are purely hardware, you don't need compatibility, unless you mean RGB control. In that case, whatever is supported by liquidctl is your best bet.
