[SUCCESS] Gigabyte Designare Z390 (Thunderbolt 3) + i7-9700K + AMD RX 580

  • OpenCore 0.6.0
  • VirtualSMC 1.1.5
  • Lilu 1.4.6
  • WhateverGreen 1.4.1
  • AppleALC 1.5.1
  • NVMeFix 1.0.3

With NVMeFix 1.03 , my system can't boot , neither with OC or Clover, but NVMeFix 1.02 seems ok

Thanks so much for the reply.

-No, I'm not using the NVMe Fix kext (Sorry, I must have missed that in the documentation).

-If this refers to the USB, yes I can boot directory with the macOS installer flash disk. (If you're referring to something other than the USB, sorry, this is my first build so my terminology may be off)
NOTE: If I use clover on USB to boot and then run Mojave from NVMe, it boots. It's only when using clover on NVMe and then booting with Mojave from NVMe that fails.

-I have not tried to install and boot from a standard SSD (I will try this. Great idea).
Please delete OsxAptioFix3Drv-64.efi and replace it with OsxAptioFix2Drv-free2000.efi. Click here to download this file.

Interesting. What is the make/model of your NVMe? This problem may need to be reported to Acidanthera. My Sabrent Rocket NVMe works correctly with NVMeFix 1.0.3.

Casey, is this guide applicable to those who installed and followed the guide when it was written with clover? Seems like I have some updating to do since I initially installed everything late last year. Thanks

This is as far as I am getting in the installer. I am booting from my internal drive. It’s taking it a long time to get to this screen - the apple logo and the white progress bar probably last for 10 minutes. Then this shows up and it has been up for an hour. I am in plugged in to HDMI on the RX580 card. Only one of the 2 HDMI outputs on the card works.

Not sure where i went wrong.
This is a designare z390, and 9700k.
Bios F9.

I have attached my config.plist

I have included a screen shot of the folders in the EFI partition of the install thumb drive.

Hey @CaseySJ

Thank you for such a quick update on OC 0.6.0! It's running beautifully for me from a few hours testing. I previously had trouble with getting 5700xt pulse to get past the black screen using provided EFI folder but this WEG update seems to fix it.

The only thing left is probably netflix on safari and appletv+, have you been able to get it to work on 19,1 SMBIOS? shikigva=80 does not seem to help much. Only way I've been able to get netflix DRM to work is using 1,1 SMBIOS, which is not ideal.

Sure, but moving from Clover to OpenCore requires one preliminary step:
  • In Mojave we need to make a full bootable backup and then move all Hackintosh kexts from /Library/Extensions to CLOVER/kexts/Other
    • Hackintosh kexts are listed in Step 3 of this guide.
    • Then delete all Hackintosh kexts from /Library/Extensions and run Kext Utility to rebuild the kernel cache.
  • Now follow the OpenCore 0.6.0 guide that was published earlier this morning.
    • Instructions for unlocking MSR 0xE2 (CFG-Lock) are at the bottom of that guide.
  • The idea is to create a fully working OpenCore EFI folder on a USB flash disk, boot from that disk to ensure that everything is working, and then copy the EFI folder to the EFI partition of the Mojave SSD.

Let's check the following:
  • Is the installer booting through Clover or OpenCore?
  • Is RadeonBoost present in the kexts folder (it should be removed if present)?
  • Is WhateverGreen installed?
Feel free to compress and upload your EFI folder (serial numbers should be removed from config.plist).

I'm probably one of the 5 people left on this planet that does not have a Netflix subscription! :) So let me put the question out to others:

If you're a Netflix subscriber, is it working for you on Safari and the TV app with iMac19,1 and platform ID 0x3E980003 (headless)?
