[SUCCESS] Gigabyte Designare Z390 (Thunderbolt 3) + i7-9700K + AMD RX 580

@CaseySJ

Thanks so much for this guide! I'm ALMOST there. I'm on my 5th time going through it. I've tried several things.

I'm installing 10.14.6. Everything works great up until it's time to boot from the NVMe drive. After following the post installation process, I reboot and I end up frozen immediately after the "End RandomSeed +++++++" line (image attached).

I've tried my memory in slots A1+A2, A1+B1, and A1 only.

There are no additional peripherals connected.

Any help you (or anyone) can give is SO appreciated. Thanks!

@CaseySJ Do you know if it’s possible to populate both M.2 slots on the zZ390 Designare, dual booting with Clover - running macOS Mojave on the 1st, and Windows 10 on the 2nd?
I have a Samsung 970 M.2 running successfully (based off this guide) in the first M.2 slot and would like to add Windows if possible

Are you using NVMe Fix kext?
Can you boot directly with the macOS installer flash disk?
Have you tried to install and boot from a standard SSD?

Please upload your EFI folder but remove SMBIOS numbers from config.plist

Welp can’t seem to upgrade from 10.15.2 to 10.15.6.
Replaced the ktexts, started the update via system prefs.
but no matter which install I select on the boot screen all I get is a white Apple logo on black screen.

I can’t even boot into the drive unless I use the backup drives uefi partition.

any help would be appreciated.

thanks

Have you seen this guide ("Plan C") for upgrading from Pre-10.15.4 to 10.15.4+ :

In most cases this is due to having multiple memory EFI drivers in either of these directories:
  • drivers64UEFI
  • drivers/UEFI
Please post a screenshot of either or both (in EFI partition).

Both M.2 slots may be populated, but we recommend Windows in the first slot (M2M) and macOS in the bottom slot (M2P), which prevents Windows feature updates from creating a "Microsoft" folder in the EFI partition of the Mac SSD. When a Windows EFI folder exists in an EFI partition, the motherboard automatically chooses it and ignores the others.

@CaseySJ Just went back and read the post above - All my testing has been with DSM firmware flashed - the original and the Nv update that was recent - Would any of the customised versions in that post possibly help me?

- I'm still using Clover, should OpenCore help with this issue?
- I don't see an option for multi-monitor on BIOS. My BIOS is set up exactly like this post suggests
- My platform ID is 0x3E9B0007, with iMac 19,1. Should I set that value on Hackintool? I'm using i7 9700k
- Your framebuffer patch tools different than the tutorial. Should that for the Designare @CaseySJ?

- Clover or OpenCore should behave the same
- Your platform ID is correct.Post a pic of your Hackintool connecters screen. Goto Hackintool >Patch > Connecters screenshot. Make sure the connecter connected to the HDMI monitor is marked as HDMI.
- Try a cold reboot. Plug out the power - leave for a few minutes and then start.
- When the second monitor loses signal, switch that off using the power button on the monitor, wait for 5 seconds and switch it on again.

DSM2 used Elias’ firmware from this thread. The last part of the filename contains E64fr which is short for Elias64Fr. I discussed this privately with Elias, and we are both perfectly okay with DSM2 doing this. This is an open community. Everyone shares, everyone borrows, and everyone acknowledges the original contributor.

However, DSM2 has been working or collaborating on a new version that appears to perform much better during initial testing. He has agreed to test it on Antelope devices as well, so I would strongly encourage you and @qthegaijin to wait for those test results.
