After a really and truly dumb self inflicted disaster I restored from a Clone and copied my backup copy of my EFI to the EFI partition of the Catalina boot SSD.

Everything works again as it should except that Catalina (10.15.6) always boots in verbose mode. There is not and has never been a -v flag in the configp.list I am using.

Since the configp was copied from a file long sitting idle on an NTSC formatted drive the -v flag would have had to spontaneously generate itself.

Pressing F11 at the Clover splash screen (to clear nVRAM?) reboots the machine but it still boots to Catalina in verbose mode.

I did some work on this machine creating an OpenCore installer for a different computer, which always boots in verbose mode as I have not gotten around to changing the -v flag, but this machine never had an OpenCore EFI made for it and never booted with OpenCore. I have zero interest in converting this or any other machine to OpenCore in the time x86 MacOS has left.

Its more puzzling than anything else, I realize some people prefer verbose mode. I wonder if there is anything that can trigger verbose mode without the -v flag?

an NTSC formatted drive
How did you format a drive as a television standard ?

I wonder if there is anything that can trigger verbose mode without the -v flag?
If the drive in question is set up for emulated NVRAM that might account for the verbose boot.

NTSC Format! I think your autocorrect snagged you...

Anyway, my High Sierra install is also booting in verbose mode always... very annoying. I’ve also tried the F11 and no success. Is there another way to clear the NVram?
