Downloaded this version from the gigabyte website
Yeah, F8 is different on my mobo, has the new interface, F7 on mine looks like yours and that does have the serial port option

Interesting ... I haven't used this board in some time, but I plan on bringing it back one day, and continuing my build with it. Right now, I'm quite happy on Z370.

I think making an SSDT to disable the device for those who have the new interface on F8 would be a cleaner solution.

I have the same issue on my z390 gaming X which is interfering with my apple watch unlock feature. Do we have a clear process to disable the port via an SSDT?

Alternatively @mattystonnie can you share modification you made from post #8 to #10

@pastrychef shared this link with me on another THREAD, the beta BIOS for the Z390M Gaming reinstates the disable Serial Port option. It's stable for me and solves the Apple Watch Unlock problem. I don't know if the Gaming X BIOS reintroduces this functionality and obviously flash BIOS at own risk (use qflash NOT @BIOS)

I flashed my Z390 Gaming X BIOS to the beta F10g that I downloaded from that TweakTown link.

It's been stable for the last few days, no problems. The nice things are:

- CFG Lock option in the BIOS. No more booting into grub to unlock it!
- Serial port disable option in the BIOS
- BIOS does not revert to French.

I used the Q-Flash method, and it was very easy.

Seems Christmas came early this year. Thanks for sharing!!!

Spoke too soon. Unfortunately I seem to have the issue of a black bios screen after updating like some others on the forum. I will need to stay on the current one until this one is stable

UPDATE & RESOLUTION: I was able to resolve the issue with the black screen via a hint I found in the forum. It seems the black screen occurs when entering the bios for the first time using a screen that has some kind of USB/drive functionality (CSM). I connected the Hackintosh to a HDMI screen without any SD/USB functionality and I was able to access the bios without any issues. Once you save a configuration you can then revert to your normal screen and the issue does not reproduce itself unless the bios resets

I can confirm the beta bios addresses the Apple Watch unlock issue and adds CFG unlock .

Thanks all.

I can confirm the Serial Port disable WORKS for the Apple Watch unlock issue on a Gigabyte Z390 Aorus Master motherboard. A new BIOS was recently released for this board as well (F11i) that brings back the Serial Port toggle. Woohoo!
I just migrated the system from Clover to Opencore but suspect this fix will work for Clover users as well!
