[WIP] 2006 20" iMac Intel case mod.

I was reading about MLPostFacto, idk maybe I should stick with Snow Leopard. It's difficult to see if I'm getting any graphics acceleration, all transitions are smooth as silk and text looks sharper than before.

Late last night I installed my legally acquired Lion installer from the App Store. It worked but it wasn't very smooth, transitions were flakey and beach ball invasion. Another thing I noticed, it didn't like the 'Beast' at all, system report didn't pick it up or it wouldn't start with it plugged in, just a grey screen. I have since re installed Snow Leopard and returned a smooth and responsive OS X experience. I'm more amazed at the fact that I dismantled the iMac, rebuilt it and everything works, though I have a few screws left over!.

Things I purchased for my iMac Hackintosh. I already own an i5-3475S but I haven't bought the cpu cooler, looking at the service map for the HP8300 AIO motherboard its very similar to the Dell cooler thats in the Inspirion 2020. We will check and see when it arrives, especially if it will fit in the iMac case, theres quite a lot of room in there.

I chose the same graphics card as trs96 in his HP8300 USDT thread, theres room for two of these cards.

I hope I bought the right Ram, the motherboard supports up to 16 GB.

In the iMac the PSU is mounted top left inside the case. I can remove the PSU enclosure for the HP and hopefully mount it to the case.

I chose a Samsung mSATA, small capacity I'm not worried about storage space, I may still be able to keep the HDD inside.

Im trying to install the same gpu 7650a. can i have a link to trs96 tread please

which thread?
"I chose the same graphics card as trs96 in his HP8300 USDT thread, theres room for two of these cards." <-- that thread

I'm not using that card. Just mentioned that is the one officially supported in the HP 8300 for installing Windows. Th 8300s have a whitelist of dedicated gfx cards that will work.

Search the HP website for the specific model you have. Even though the 7650a is on the whitelist I don't believe it is macOS Mojave or Catalina compatible. Of course, works with Windows.
