The 4K Dell OptiMac - 9020 MT - Core i7-4790 - Radeon RX 570 - LG 4K IPS Monitor

Hi Nicksoph, checked the bios and everything was as per post 1 except I had primary video set to intel rather than auto, however thats what it was set at when it was working. Changed to auto to see if it makes a difference. I did notice the date/time had changed and was out by a couple of hours, date was correct. I had set this earlier to correct time so not sure why it is changing back. Time is correct in macos after it boots. DP cable plugged in lower displayport on the optiplex

now if i put it to sleep, it will wake with the mouse but reboots straight away! Sounds like the issues everyone has when a rx580 is installed. My rx580 is still in the box...maybe i should move it to another room further away

The build is slightly different between with and without a gpu and Im fairly confident of the settings for without - (moving the GPU out of the room wont help - the intel gpu knows what you have done and is easily upset) The swapping of which port goes to your monitor is significant as are the system definitions.

Put the attached configN.plist into the same folder as the real config.plist
then check the bios settings
Advanced Boot Options: [ x ] Enable Legacy Option Roms - Selected
Video: Primary Display (.) Intel HD Graphics
Power Management: Deep Sleep Control (.) Disabled

then reboot and interrupt clover and select this new config plist to boot from and see how that sleeps
then reboot again and again select the new config with the monitor plugged into the other DP
then feedback

Edit: renamed NewConfig to configN.plist
configN.plist - for NO external GPU

Ok in the top DP on the optiplex, its wakes from sleep fine now, straight to the login page using your config (had to change name to configN.

Still not sure why it was working fine for over a week on my old config with smbios 15.1. I guess I should get used to having to turn it off all the time since the rx580 is going in there one day (if my moddiy cable ever turns up) no matter how upset the intel gpu gets!

edit: rebooted to my old config but left legacy option roms enabled and video set to intel HD....sleep/wake works fine again. Get low res clover menu..I assume thats caused by legacy roms being on

Low res - yes legacy roms does that.
rename ConfigN - yes sorry, I think they have to start with 'config'... Edited post and renamed

The settings for the HD4600 are a bit of workaround to a problem we don't quite understand about why the real 4600 framebuffer settings dont work together with issues that relate to the display port on the macs we are emulating not being straight dp interconnections (because the macs have inbuilt displays).

Sorry for the soft replies but they reflect what little I've read about the subject (seems to have the clever people a bit at a loss too).

Im not with my 7020 so - May I ask you to try something out that might be useful to know - the DP sound only works thru the top DP but does sleep work no matter which DP you are plugged into?

Did you previously get Clover in High res? - I think that implies that Legacy Roms was unticked?
if LR is unticked I would have expected sleep not to have worked. If that's how it was and sleep was working that's something to note and if possible duplicate, it might throw a bit more light on the hd4600 issues.
Might you have had the BIOS set to "Intel Graphics" but no tick in Legacy Roms? My understanding is, this wouldnt sleep but it would be better if I was wrong.
The only other thing I can think of is the monitor itself which may have a DDC setting that changes how much it communicates with the PC.

Yes I was getting clover in high res and can confirm that I had bios set to intel hd graphics with legacy roms unchecked and it slept and woke perfectly until the other day. Can’t think of anything significant that has changed in the last couple of days that could have stopped it working. I’ll have a look at the monitor in the morning (on night shift now) and see if I can see anything about ddc but I haven’t fiddled with monitor settings either other than switching inputs between dp and dvi when both computers were plugged in.

@bjay77 If your confident that nothings been changed I wonder if the BIOS time is a clue - normally when the BIOS battery dies the clock will get reset (rather than lose time) and the other bios settings are lost. Would you know all the settings you set in the BIOS? If it was working, nothing else would have changed by the system in config.plist or updated any of the clover based files, so the BIOS and any OSX settings or updates would be the likely things to look at. How about CFG Lock? might you have followed any instructions on unlocking the BIOS?

I set up the BIOS as per the instructions from TRs. I flashed to a25, reset to default the made the changes as per the guide. Not sure what CFG lock is? I changed the CMOS battery a while back when I replaced the thermal paste, etc., but that was before it stopped working. I changed the date/time in BIOS after I changed the battery so not sure why the time was wrong today. Was exactly 2.5 hours ahead of real time so not really a random amount. I keep getting macOS entries appearing in the boot list. Had another today when I went looking in the BIOS. I unchecked it and deleted it as per TRs instructions. That was after sleep/wake stopped working though.

Are you in a time zone that uses a half hour in its time zone?
If you have had OSX boot entries made since you removed them on install then afaik that indicates an update, its only on install and updates that OSX makes the changes to the bios boot entries. CFG Lock is the only other thing that effects power (not part of this build) - see here for how to and search for "CFG Lock Hackintosh" for info about it
