Apple Previews macOS 11.0 Big Sur - Available Fall 2020

From what I see MacOS 11 will drop the support of kexts. And will use “System extensions”.
What does it mean for the Hackintosh?

*My machine is 100% on kexts

Apple Deprecating KEXTs. End of Hackintosh?

Seems pretty clear Apple will announce ARM at WWDC. What does this mean for the lifespan of hackintosh and do you think ARM will be instituted across the entire portfolio or just the MacBook lines? If they keep Intel for Mac Pro, can I assume hackintoshers are safe? Life span? My guess is...

trs96, most kexts should work fine. But I use some kexts that haven’t been updated in 4 years. We would have to see what Apple will pull from their sleeve. And something tells me they will not make hackintosh life’s better :|

For Catalina we suggest putting all kexts into the kexts/other folder inside the Clover folder on your EFI partition. Are you doing this now or are they in /L/E ?
 
MacOS is not important anymore. With Windows 10 including Linux Subsystem support it's the way to go. I don't use MacOS as my main anymore, I only use macOS for light duty computing. Apple is all about control, they want to control everything that runs on their hardware and keep every dollar possible. The old days when you can customize your own Mac was long gone and Hackintosh is the only game left and now they will soon fade away as it is supposed to. Soon you can do basically anything with just a browser and no need for an OS. So emulating macOS is no longer as important as it used to be.

While Windows 10 is still with inconsistency and serious bugs as of version 2004.

I have to agree. Support will last for at bar minimum a few years. Apple products often have great resell value. Macs that haven’t been supported in years still sell for decent prices. It’ll also give some time for the arm based systems to come into their own and maybe even the second hand market to begin.

I have a late 2013 iMac SMBIOS. Is it possible to change it to Mac Pro 2013 ?
