I've tested one of these Archer T2U usb wifi adapters on a Catalina desktop and the speeds were very good. The large 5dBi high-gain antenna makes a big difference in download speeds. So if a large antenna isn't a problem for your laptop these are a great deal at $14.99 right now. There is also a smaller USB dongle version for the same price. Even the Fenvi HB1200 costs over 50 USD on Amazon. So if you don't need BT, this can save a significant amount of money.

Drivers from TP-Link site: https://www.tp-link.com/us/support/download/archer-t2u-plus/#Driver

Note there is a separate driver for 10.9-10.14 so don't use the Catalina version for Mojave. Great choice if your laptop or desktop is a long way from the router/WAP you are accessing. A good alternative for those without an open PCIe slot on their motherboard to install a Fenvi Wifi/BT adapter. The cost is also around 37 USD cheaper too.

Here's the download page for the Catalina driver. Simple download and gui interface to perform the install.

There is a T3U with Catalina driver coming soon, AC1300.
Good for the tiny Lenovo boxes ? Do you get anywhere close to advertised speeds ?

I haven't tested one, but if I run across one I will. It may work with those numbers if its 2" from the router.

Will this work OOB? I'm looking to build a new desktop and the motherboard I might get doesn't have wifi or bluetooth

The high-gain 5dBi antenna gives these good range but there's always the limitations of the Type A USB port to prevent full throughput speeds. Using a natively supported card by Broadcom and a PCIe adapter is always going to be faster. These are a compromise but worth it for those with no open PCIe slots to use. For streaming online content on a Lenovo, HP or Dell mini PC these are up to the task.
