AMD Radeon Navi GPU

Hi @mattystonnie, my GPU is a Radeon RX 5500 XT, used in general for motion graphics in After Effects. Besides the Benchmark improvements, what kind of boost could i get with this kext in real terms? (I use Premiere + Photoshop + Illustrator for work too).

Thanks for the work and stay safe.

I don't know but it shouldn't return anything other than the correct resolution for your display. macOS does not have "super sampling". So something is wrong there. But at least I'm seeing something other than 5K (which is the only thing I've seen before).

We gotta do investigating

What resolution is a fullscreen screenshot? (CMD + SHIFT + 3)

Check this out (it's a phone photo so I can also get the displays OSD[?] menu)

It also shows as 5K, and the real resolution is 3840x2160, OSX res is 2560x14440, in reality it's 1.5x HiDPI, but it's registered as a 2x HiDPI.

Weird, did not notice this until now.

So I think I came across one problem. Does anyone running a Navi chip have anything other than the 5K resolution for their display? Clearly mine is not and it actually doesn't matter what display EDID I use, it's always 5K.

Even printing a screenshot shows it at 5K. What's going on here exactly?

On my system (using a Vega 64) this occurs when I try a non-multiple scaling option in "Displays". So, "Default for display":

... results in this:

Screen Shot 2020-06-07 at 11.47.15 pm.png

Native resolution:

Screen Shot 2020-06-07 at 11.49.14 pm.png

... gives this:

Screen Shot 2020-06-07 at 11.50.29 pm.png

My preferred setting:

... gives this:

As I understand it, the GPU is working at 5K and is down-rezzed somewhere (where?).

That's my preferred setting as well. Same behavior.

Anyone was able to read the Navi sensors on Catalina 10.15.4? I have an AsRock 5500xt with the FakeSMS Sensors but I can't read the information from the GPU card.

@hanuman wow that's amazing dude. So yeah anything scaled with just get macOS to double the resolution. Is this unique to hacks or do you know if this is normal?

No

I looked at my 16" MBP and it doesn't appear with the Resolution and UI Looks Like in the System Information it just shows resolution for the internal display. When I get a chance I will try hooking up an external display to it and see if that is like the hackintosh.

Also on the hackintosh, toggling back to "Default for display" and then back to Scaled while holding the option key I get 4K/4K. After rebooting though I get 8K/4K.

Got my Red devil 5700 xt to replace the Vega 64. Just remove the old one, remove the KEXT and AML regarding the Radeon improve performance. Now my scores on GB5 regarding the processor are down low, really low 4432 multi before was 8920, Cinebench R20 was 4713 and now 2129, also the processor temp is steady at 90deg C under no low load... What's is going on????
Any ideas????
Bios version is 8 thinking to update to 9b..
thanks for any help
