Hey @pastrychef and @Raftrix86, so Z490 and i9-10900K also can use 4 x DIMM, Max. 128GB, DDR4. I know that Z390 had issue of using 128GB ram at full capacity. Do you guys think or know if the same issue will exist with Z490 as well?

I don't know. I haven't seen anyone test 128GB.

That is awesome @Raftrix86. Please see if you are getting full performance like on Mac devices. Well my main objective is getting full performance and I am planning to build in the second week of June. Till then will keep planning the components. Also are you using water cooler? For i9-10900K needs to use 360mm AIO water cooler that does not need to use the USB header connector in the motherboard. There seem to have issue when if the AIO water cooler is connected to the USB header connector in the motherboard.

hahahaha is funny, I am not getting full performance as a Mac device, I am getting a full lot more extra performance!!!! The processor is always at 4.1ghz with all cores (base clock is 2.9ghz) one core 4.3ghz, no thermal throttling in cpu and gpu (like in a real mac Sadly). The apple macs don’t perform good, for the thermal problems ther perform bad (I tested in person is a sad reality), the only device that perform good with no thermal throttling is the new macpro (I already tested). for the aio water I don’t know yet, I just ordered the i9 and better motherboard, hope the next week I will get it, because of the covid-19 is getting more time, but I will use my Corsair 150i AIO, but with the Core i9 9900K i used a Corsair H60 (the new model) and It worked just fine with overclock at 5,1ghz (75/80 degress). But of course a better aio will help you a lot...

Don’t worry if the config Of your hackintosh Is right, it beats any posssible Apple mac that you can find on the market...

Yeah, spot on about the thermal throttling handicapping the performance in most of Mac devices except Mac Pro. I was really hoping and eagerly waiting to get Mac Pro when learned that it would be upgradable; but the cost of decent Mac Pro with XDR is much; can't even imagine to buy it. So making this hackintosh build is my only hope.

Actually, I had everything ready for i9-9900K build and could not make it due to COVID-19. Now i9-10900K has additional 2 faster cores and 4 threads!! Also ASUS ProArt Z490-Creator looks so tempting, really hoping that this will be very good for this build

Just need to find a 360mm AIO Liquid Cooler that does not need to be connected to internal USB header; then my long search for perfect cooler will be over :headbang:

We don't get Apple performance with hackintosh, we are not thermally limited, we don't have T2 chips, we get so much better. I run Cinebench on a 9900K iMac that was sitting on a guys desk for fun, got 4300, that's lower than the 4400 I get on my 9900 engineering sample running at much lower theoretical frequency. I always love how some people think that apple has any special juice...yeah, maybe some incredibly terrible thermal paste that's it.

Ok my test is finally a success!!!!!, I could make it work my new Hackintosh 10 gen but it was a bit difficult but is working with my Core i5 10400 and a Asrock z490 Phantom Gaming 4, my low budget build for testing:

  • Audio ALCS1200A, I could find only info for ALCS12200A because people are using more pros mobos but with a few modifications is working.

Hello,

I have a Asrock Z490M Pro4 with the ALCS1200A and I've got it working with id=1 but I don't have sound. I've tried the three id's but without success.
Every thing seems fine in IOReg Explorer and Hackintool.
Can you give me some pointers on these modifications?

Thanks

I'm glad you guys are going the Asus route, would be good to get a few builds going so we can collectively optimize.

Mine is working well but I'm sure there's room for improvement.

Definitely @scope666!! Man many components are out of stock and many are so overpriced Man getting frustrated here to get all of the components I want. The worst part is couple of the components that I want are showing July 3 to July 31 availability date!!!

I used something like this, it definitely helps to track stuff down:

Hello sure of course, you have to add some device properties for device id and id layout, 2 kexts from FakePCIID and you are ready, I will attach a file with the device properties and the kexts you need... don´t forge to use the lastest lilu and applealc...
