[Guide] HP Elite 8300 & 6300 Pro (all form factors) using Clover UEFI hotpatch

The computer wouldn't boot without USB installer inserted. It would freeze at the end of Apple progress bar.

UPDATE:
Thanks for your suggestions. it's all working. I mounted the EFI and removed a file inside ACPI>patched called SSDT.aml. Then I replaced the config.plist (again).

UPDATE UPDATE:
I replaced the SSDT.ami and the fault returned so the fault was due to rouge SSDT.ami file

OpenCanopy Icons

I've been trying to change my OpenCanopy 0.5.9 icons to look right for Apple,
Windows, and Fedora. I haven't got the last two working correctly yet, but
I have some better Apple icons for you.

In my config.plist, my PickerMode is set to External, PickerAttributes is set to
1, UIScale can be 01 or 02, and DefaultBackgroundColor has been tested with
black 00000000 and gray BFBFBF00.

The attached icon files in the zipped folder go in OC / Resources / Images instead.

If someone figures out how to change the Windows or Fedora icons, please let
me know.

Im still working on setting up a bootable USB to test it. I think Im still on the introduction paragraph

Odd Fix for Windows and Fedora Icons

I think I figured out whats going on with my Fedora and Windows icons.
I could fix it entirely if I had just two operating systems, but with these
three, I am in a no-win situation, unless I do an odd rename.

It turns out the display of icons in OpenCanopy is affected by whether the
operating system is displayed as a result of an Entry in the Misc / Entries
section of the config.plist. If I put an entry for an operating system in there,
OpenCanopy seems to assume it is an "Other" operating system, and uses
either the Other.icns or OldOther.icns, depending on the DefaultBackgroundColor.
I'm attaching appropriate "Other" icon files here for the Fedora operating system.

If the operating system is discovered by scanning instead of an entry, OpenCanopy
assigns an icon according to what it discovers. If it discovers a Windows bootmgfw.efi
it uses an appropriate icon for a Windows drive.

The problem is that if I have an entry for Windows, it assumes it is an "Other"
operating system, and displays it with my Fedora icon. If I don't have an entry
for Fedora, and it discovers Fedora by scanning, it applies a default hard drive icon
instead of my special Fedora icon.

So if I have a ScanPolicy that tells OpenCore to scan all ESP file systems, it discovers
both Windows and Fedora and displays a correct Windows icon and a bad Fedora icon.
If I have a ScanPolicy setting that tells OpenCore not to scan the ESP file systems,
I can only display them via two entries, and it displays a correct Fedora icon and a
bad Windows icon.

If I have both Scan-ESP and an entry, it displays a good and a bad icon for the entry.

I don't want to rename the default harddrive icons, but it seems like my only solution.

Very interesting thing to keep in mind for folks making the switch over to OpenCore, if your going to add new firmware or kext make sure you update your config file. Christ, it took me half an hour to figure out why I couldnt see my OSX partitions. Other than that, with a fresh set of eyes tomorrow I will work my way through the config list to clean it up and understand what I am seeing.

P.S. Its weird as **** to be using Windows. Only time I ever used windows was for PSVita, Switch and PS4 related stuff.

Question for @LisaAlterEgo, Setting up OC and I am honestly confused as to what SBIOS I should go with. I hear for the i7 HD4000 8300s MacMini6,1 is the way to go but then I also hear there is a issue with USB powermanagent on 6,1. What would be the best and correct setup? Also do you have a updated copy of the USB.kext, i remember seeing a post that you updated but I cant find that post.

As I understand, from what @Sniki has mentioned, the better choice is 6,1 instead of 13,2. It's 13,2 that creates the USB issues. Since the 6,1 and 6,2 Mac minis used HD4000 exclusively, it's the better choice if the Intel HD4000 igpu is your primary graphics. Makes sense to me. For those using a supported Nvidia card it may be best to use iMac 13,2.

Thank you, this opencore stuff is insane but also fun to learn.

Like going back to hackintosh school, in the summertime. I think Sniki will be posting his OC guide for the HP 8300. He's been using it far longer than anyone else in this community and has most every issue worked out already. Be on the lookout for that new thread. There will be a note posted here.

Hi everyone and sorry for the absence, i was curious why on earth i didn't receive a single notification from this guide at all. for some reasons i am not receiving notifications from this thread, so i unwatched and watched again and checkmark the receive notifications, hopefully from now on i won't miss anything.

I see a lot of conversation and pages happened here, it will take me some time to read each one individually but i want to share just an ETA.

I did learn a lot of new things and my OpenCore experience now surpassed the Clover one.
Long story short.

All my guides will receive a final update for Clover and will be archived as i will move everything on my side to OpenCore now.
HP guide will be followed soon after.

I already published a Lenovo ThinkPad T440S; T440P; X240 (3x) guides with OpenCore and they are going very well.
I will update USBPorts.kext to include all matching SMBIOS models that can fit the HP Elite.
iMac13,1 13,2 13,3
MacMini6,1 MacMini6,2
etc.
Credits to @LisaAlterEgo for this and she also added support for the front hub if i recall correctly.

Maintaining OpenCore guides is a piece of cake and i can provide daily fixes on my side and the Acidanthera Monthly updates same day by me or next day (depending on your timezones).

So each month i will provide EFI with all latest updated kexts, OpenCore latest version etc.

Will check post as i have time and will try to answer your questions, hopefully from now on i receive notifications.

Thanks for the assistance @trs96
