[SUCCESS] Gigabyte Designare Z390 (Thunderbolt 3) + i7-9700K + AMD RX 580

This sometimes happens, but it goes away if you repeat the command.

I did. I also plugged it straight in to my USB port instead. Warning (wall of text) But this is the output after many tries.

Code:
Calibrating delay loop... OK.

Has anyone had this issue trying to update to 10.15.5 from .4 - occurred after the initial reboot, seems like a RAM issue, can't figure a work around

@faithie999

I’m just curious. If there’s any special reason you still want to fully enable Thunderbolt Bus and Local Node with SSDT for your GC-Alpine Ridge and Apple Thunderbolt Display?

I’m asking this because my Apple Thunderbolt Display works perfectly since last summer. I’m using the same Z390 Aorus Pro motherboard and GC-Alpine Ridge card just as you. I’m always able to see entire boot, Clover screen, macOS boot stage. Be it a cold boot or reboot or wake from sleep.

All functions of the display are working flawlessly, and sleep/wake is perfect. No loss of usb, sound, camera or mic at all.
Hey, can this card/SSDT combo work with our Designare motherboards, or is this just for the Aorus Pro? I actually have a Thunderbolt Display sitting in the corner that I can't use on my system right now, and I'm gun-shy about flashing as I don't want to risk killing the chip since I do everything with this machine.

If you can still boot 10.15.4, please post the following:
  • Screenshot of /Library/Extensions folder
  • Screenshot of CLOVER/drivers/UEFI
  • Screenshot of CLOVER/kexts/Other
  • Clover version number (this is displayed on the Clover Boot Menu or by pressing A for About)

Hi!

It is, I think, not a good idea to update Catalina 10.15.5 because major update can't be disable.

I see some people are using a patched firmware version 33 for the Alpine Ridge. I tried flashing mine with the Asus UX550 laptop ASUS-UX550-NVM33-Elias64Fr.bin On-board (Alpine Ridge?) posted on number 16,393, but it doesn't work for a regular Alpine Ridge card. Does anyone have this?

Hello ,
When I activate the Sidecar system with the iPad this appears to me as in the picture attachment everything is working from Bluetooth and the iCloud account but a black screen appears.
Please, I want a solution to this problem and thank you very much.

My PC iMac 19.1, OpenCore 0.5.8, Catalina

I hadn't tried plugging GC-Alpine Ridge into Z390 Designare. I was already in the process of building second system and decided to went with Z390 Aorus Pro motherboard. As far as I know, Z390 Designare doesn't have THB_C connector (because it's already have Thunderbolt chip on board) so I thought it might be crucial to have it for all functions of display. So ended up ordering Aorus Pro for my second system.

I believe any Gigabyte motherboard with a proper THB_C connector should work with Alpine or Titan Ridge add-in Thunderbolt cards. Also, there were some reports of people using motherboards and add-in Thunderbolt cards of different vendors (Gigabyte, ASUS or AsRock).

Btw, I'm also wondering now, if it was possible to install GC-Alpine Ridge card to Z390 Designare without THB_C cable at all. And if Apple Thunderbolt Display was able to work in this configuration. My Designare system is already sold so I can't check this unfortunately.

I redid my USB mapping and switched to the USBPorts.kext method. Now I see this, but I have high current charging available? Weird. Anyway, let's see if this fixes it.View attachment 469546

Haven't had any high current problems since. 14 days and counting... Works every time I charge my iPhone.

Please check if you have shikigva=80 in Boot Arguments. If that alone does not help, then try the procedure in this post. It should help with Sidecar as well.
