Yes I still have the shutdown problem! I use the shutdown patch, when I want to shut down I press to restart when it hits the bios screen I enter the bios with F2 and then turn off the button, so never the problem of having to open it every time and remove the batteries.

did the sound work?

Seems like there wont be a solution for this shurtdown problem....

Hello guys!

I am new to creating a hackintosh and saw this topic because it is the same model as my laptop.

Mine however is an i5 core, is it possible to configure Catalina on it?

Good afternoon I have this notebook, and I would like to install macos catalina, could someone help me? I don't know much about macos.

I think the shutdown problem is caused by wrong power state register by mac os efi or the bios itself. it need to be s5 off. i found a workaround for this. without opening laptop every time, using multimedia card reader card detect switch to reset bios to defaults. u need some soldering skills for this. The solutions is to shortcircuit the embedded controller IT2528 backup power supply pin 3 for second. after the work around you can't use mmc reader anymore. For resetting the bios insert memory card (or mmc adapter) to the mmc socket and pull back immediately. dont leave the card there. Never insert card while pc is running. always watch notification light before inserting. short circuiting pins more than a few seconds may damage your pcb.

First isolate the card detect pin from pcb using soldering ion and add a piece of insulation between pca and the pin. Make connection from +ve side off capacitor c 511 to isolated card detect pin.
Warning! Disconnect battery and adaptor from laptop before making connection. and iam not responsible if anything happens wrong.

Ohay! We got a hardware patch there! How did you figure this out? I really want to try it. Let me see if I got this wrong, you are basically resting the CMOS thru the card reader then, is that it?

I already have some holes on the back cover of my machine. I'm thinking on adapting a button for this then or some approach like this, do you this would that would work as well?

Yes you can use a push button instead. Cardreader detect pin does the same when you insert card. if you r using push button you need to groud other end.

The embedded controller holds the bios settings until backup pin voltage drops. When we remove both batteries does the same.

Good afternoon my friend is also core i5 and he has catalina, the only problem is the shutdown that I couldn't solve. As a stopgap I disconnected the two CMOS batteries and the other one, it is working in the socket without battery. With this I can turn off the notebook and turn it on like any other but the time is out of date. As well as the wi fi card I replaced it with an Atheros card so the wi fi worked normally.

Hello Friend!!

I am looking to install Catalina on the Vostro 5470, in my case it is just the boot screen, did you use any specific boot flag, did you follow any tutorial?

Hi Krissis, I'm trying to install Mojave on my Dell Vostro 5740, but I can't. None of the files I found worked. Can you make the file used to create the bootable USB flash drive available? If you can also give me a step by step to install the system it will help me a lot, as I am a layman in this hackintosh process.
Thanks!
