I attempt to install Clover to USB on a real hardware (i have an old MacBook Pro), this is the USB that i use
View attachment 467625
I chose option 1 in this tutorial, which is:
# repartition /dev/disk2 MBR, two partitions
# first partition, "CLOVER EFI" FAT32, 200MiB
# second partition, "install_osx", HFS+J, remainder
diskutil partitionDisk2 2 MBR FAT32 "CLOVER EFI" 200Mi HFS+J "install_osx" R

I have this error:
View attachment 467626
Then i only tried:
diskutil partitionDisk2 2 MBR FAT32 "CLOVER EFI" 200Mi HFS+J "install_osx" R. And i got this:

Everthing was done on a real hardware, not VDIs.

Please help me. Thank you so much for your time.
don't put these in terminal:
# repartition /dev/disk2 MBR, two partitions
# first partition, "CLOVER EFI" FAT32, 200MiB
# second partition, "install_osx", HFS+J, remainder

they are there to tell you what you are doing, you only put this in terminal:
diskutil partitionDisk2 2 MBR FAT32 "CLOVER EFI" 200Mi HFS+J "install_osx" R

HP Folio 9480m CPU: Intel® Core™ i5-4310U (Intel® HD Graphics 4400) using config_HD4600_4400_4200.plist Using Mac OS to create a USB.

Did MBR with a FAT32 partition for Clover and a separate HFS+J partition for the OS X installer. using current verison of Clover (not the sourceforge link but rather what it links to when you download it).

These instructions aren't very clear/accurate. I did the GPT option since I'm using GPT (- if using GPT, select the target of the install to "install_osx") but it only gets overwritten when doing createinstallmedia so I choose CLOVER EFI.

There's no drivers64UEFI folder (no mount option) so I put HFSPlus & HPFanReset in /EFI/Clover/drivers/UEFI/. Didn't choose "Install RC scripts on target volume" since it appears to only be used when installing.

I can only boot into cover when choosing boot from external hard drive, not the USB option itself (not sure if that's off). When I try to install it only stays frozen on the Apple logo.

Tried editing bootflag in Clover menu but it only freezes and I can't do it.

Any ideas?

Hi all,
and great thanks to all of you that make it possible to have a hackintosh.

I try hard to get used to all that terms and tools and try to understand how all that works together.
I managed to get a HP notebook 15-da0xxx booting into the install utility.
My actual problem is, that I don't see my hdd in disk utility.

Does anybody have an idea what I should try next?

Problem of that laptop is, he has some of that real bare bios and I cannot verify that SATA is working in AHCI.
However booting that laptop into linux, hwinfo tells me the following.

This is my original post.
I have tried this command alone: diskutil partitionDisk2 2 MBR FAT32 "CLOVER EFI" 200Mi HFS+J "install_osx" R, this error pops up after i hit enter.

I think i successfully installed Clover to the USB.
Thank you all for your help. I just re-run the command, somehow it worked.

Hello, i posted my configuration just in case. This is my 1st Hackintosh project. As my previous post, i have successfully install Clover bootloader to USB. Before attempting to boot Catalina to my X1 Extreme, i have a question to ask: are either of my SSD even compatible to boot Catalina?

Thank you all.
