Guide updated. I think this will be the last time I'll update this guide, as I bought a new laptop and will start experimenting with that one as soon as Amazon delivers it to me.

Thanks for keeping the guide up-to-date for so long !
i just start using my laptop again after a long time (screen was broken)
i will start experimenting with opencore on this laptop so maybe i will write a guide some day inspired by this one for OpenCore

NEW UPDATE: Added OpenCore's EFI folder (0.6.0) to make this laptop work with OpenCore instead of Clover. This way, it not only works with Catalina, but also with Big Sur. Everything works, except fn+Fx keys for screen and keyboard brightness. If you are using Clover now and want to try OpenCore, just open your EFI partition, delete your EFI folder, and put this one instead. You can update from Catalina to Big Sur directly from Software Update without problems. I recommend you to use OpenCore Configurator, to edit config.plist's Platform Info section and add your generated serial number and system UUID. Check some OpenCore guide if you need help with that. It's needed to make iMessage and other Apple services work.

I think fn keys work for me when I use Asus fn kext. I'll upload it if ya like?

Do you mean the old AsusNBFnkeys kext? That one was replaced by AsusSMC, included in my EFI. The kext loads correctly. The problem are the patches needed. I have to figure out how to make the correct patching for those missing Fn keys.

Had a fully working 10.15.3 install on this machine, then windows started 'fixing' every drive it could find and borked it.

So now back trying OpenCore, and almost there but have no keyboard at macos install screen. AFAIK keyboard on this laptop is PS2. External USB Mouse works fine, but can't type anything (need wifi password to install etc.) Been following Kaby Lake laptop config guide, but no-one seems to have such a basic problem at this point with Opencore.

Have tried (with appropriate plist changes):
VoodooPS2Controller.kext
Ps2KeyboardDxe.efi

Attached Install log from MacOs install screen, config.plist and latest boot log from Opencore. Quite a bit in there about duplicate keyboard layouts, but no idea if this points to any solution. Any help on further debug tactics, or even a solution, very welcome!

Are you trying with the EFI folder provided by me, in this guide? It works fine with that one.

Also, I just updated it to OpenCore 0.6.1. Updated kexts too, and also fixed the problem with fn keys for screen brightness. Give it a try.

Are you using my OpenCore EFI folder, provided in this guide? You can just put that folder in your EFI partition, and then the installation should be a breeze.
