XPS 15 9560 MacOS Catalina 15.1 Full Install Guide

Just chiming here to let y'all know that this thread helped me to successfully run Catalina 10.15.4 on my XPS 9560 4k i7.

Even if I'm a seasoned and experienced IT guy and very familiar (VERY!) with *nix system, I still managed to delete my Windows AND linux partition to the process. Windows was recovered, linux reinstalled as I had a pretty good backup of it :).

Anyway, thanks and for the new guys... PAY ATTENTION, don't be like me :)

I've upgraded to 10.15.4 and can successfully boot into Catalina. Since the upgrade the touchscreen has stopped working and trackpad settings say no trackpad found.

The trackpad works but it is very slow and the touchscreen works fine in Windows.

Any ideas.

Thanks for your help.

Check your kexts based on the guide. For 10.15.4 I'm running these from /EFI/Clover/Kexts/other (had to add a few to get Bluetooth working)

Hey everyone!

I'm extremely new to all of this (the hackintosh world ), and trying to setup macOs on my XPS 9560.

Facing an error as attached, I've tried to create my EFI with both Clover 5103 and 5102, attempted multiple solutions (even different clover configurations) from different forums with no luck whatsoever. :|

Can someone please help me out with what's going wrong here?

Thanks everyone in advance and @adcop100 for this tutorial (because I know for sure, its not you, its me!), cannot wait to use macOs on my machine.

Try using the Clover 3.4 zip file on this thread for your installation USB, and please report back on how it went.

Best,
-Aldo

Hey, so that didn't work as well (got stuck at the same point).

Purely by accident, I tried to use the latest clover 5114 from this repo, and surprise, I was able to install macOs and setup the dual boot.

However, I'm facing some issues now as well, the audio through my headphones is barely audible at the loudest volume (speaker works fine). And through my attempts to repair it by patches, I think I have only made it worse.

And then there are some with the trackpad and the boot times as well (which I think I can live with).

Can you advise me anything on these issues? Specifically, the audio one, since I really need that to be able to use macOs.

That should be fairly easy, you need to change your audio layout, I use Layout 72

Also, check this post, it will help you further than I can :) The combo-jack selector in that post, works like magic (I heavily conference-call with the laptop multiple times for hours each day, and haven't failed on me a single time).

For the trackpad, I haven't had a single issue using the guides here. Maybe rebuilding Kext-caché might help (I would use hackintool for that).

I had slow boot times when I installed my broadcom Wifi/BT card, after fixing the kexts with the right one, boot time issues where gone and everything works as it should. Maybe that worth checking (assuming you have that wifi card)

Thanks a lot dude, you're a lifesaver. :)

Got almost everything working.

I'll bug you for a few more questions , it takes around 40-42 seconds for the macOs to boot after selecting in the clover menu, is that normal or is there any way to reduce it? :roll2:

Oh, and I'm not using the broadcom wifi card right now (network access via USB tethering: Horndis), wanted to check the installation before ordering it.

Also, I'm unable to sign into the AppStore (worked easily for the iCloud in System Preferences), does that work with the Killer wifi card and Horndis that I'm using, or it would need the broadcom one?

Thanks again for your help!

Glad I can help! I'm new-ish here and this commuity helped a lot so I'm happy I can give back

For the boot time, if you mean from Clover to getting a full desktop, I'm about the same time as you are (haven't yet played to see if it can be optimized) So I don't know honestly (yet!)

If you got iCloud, iMessages and everything, but only AppStore doesn't work, then I have to assume that you don't have a en0 interface which is an easy fix: Is basically deleting your network interfaces and the plist, reboot, add them back, and voilá... your connection (WiFi or whatever) should now be interface en0 and AppStore login should work as normal

Q. The Mac App Store isn't working. How to fix?

First you must have built-in Ethernet at 'en0'. So, you must install drivers for your Ethernet device. It is also possible if you have built-in WiFi at 'en0'. USB devices cannot be made to look built-in.

If your Ethernet (or WiFi, in the case of no Ethernet) is not at 'en0', try resetting the network interfaces. To do that, go into SysPrefs->Network and remove all interfaces, Apply, then remove /Library/Preferences/SystemConfiguration/NetworkInterfaces.plist. Reboot, then add all your network interfaces back, starting with Ethernet.

If you have no supported Ethernet, and only USB WiFi, you can use NullEthernet: https://github.com/RehabMan/OS-X-Null-Ethernet

You're amazing. I've officially switched from Windows to MacOs (my first experience) thanks to you.

Would be getting the wifi card soon as well.

Thanks again!
