AMD Radeon Navi GPU

I tried the iMacPro SMBIOS on my Haswell i7-4790K + Vega 64 GPU
That's similar to my hardware.
I bought a MSI 580 Armor to replace my GTX 960 but it is VERY loud and running VERY hot. I don't know if it's an issue with my particular card or with the cooler in general but the 5500 should be more efficient and thus quieter, I will try with one.

Just make sure to backup you current EFI folder before making any changes.
Yep, failed too many times not to have backups by now.

That's what I do for testing
Never tried it like that, I used to keep a bootable USB as backup, but actually is more efficient to test from the USB than from the main drive so I'll use your method

  • WhateverGreen was causing kernel panics on wake from sleep for me, so I removed it.
  • After removing WhateverGreen, only the HDMI port and the DisplayPort furthest away from HDMI are working. This is fine for me since I only have one monitor.
  • I installed the RadeonBoost.kext.
  • I added my own PowerPlay Table to config.plist device properties.

ok... thanks for the clarification. In my case WEG doesn't cause any kernel panic... so it's still in place. Without it my system works with only one monitor, while I have normally two.

so... the ssdt_mygpu.aml is therefore a substitute of the kext just for the my gpu only?

and the code - i.e. that snippet in post #825 made by @CMMChris - is a substitute of a possible ssdt_mygplu.aml, right?

Don't you think that the kernel panic might depends on your PPT table too?

If you want to replace the kext just add this line into clover device properties, your gpu address and Force_Load_FalconSMUFW boolean YES and it will have the same effects.

The kext and SSDT essentially do the same thing. Use one or the other, not both.

My kernel panics were related to HDMI audio.

Note my components are AMD, however, I have been using the 5700 XT doing some benchmarking with various Vulcan/Metal games. The performance of the 5700 XT is horrible.

I have a 8700K with a Sapphire VEGA 64 Nitro+ which performs much better. I can place the same card in my AMD machine, and get even better performance than my 5700 XT. Are they using a WX kernal?

Can you post some benchmarks for yours Vega & 5700xt? It need to understand what exactly are horrible with your performance.
